    Recreation
The 3,772-square-foot, heated oval pool with surrounding terrazzo deck is a focal point for this resort; cold towels and CD players with headsets are available on request. The spa, whose seven private treatment suites include two tandem rooms, emphasizes South Pacific ingredients and techniques in its treatments, which include massage, facials, body wraps, and hair and nail care. The fitness center has programmable treadmills, recumbent exercise bikes, cross-trainer, multi-station gym, and leg press; fitness consultants offer training sessions and regularly scheduled exercise classes.

Various water sports, including snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, boating, and surfing, are readily available. Guests have reduced-fee access to four private golf courses in Oahu, and a public golf course is less than one mile away.

    Features
What to expect: Two feather-helmeted, granite sculptures guard the entryway to a central courtyard with comfortable wicker chairs and splashing waterfall. Upon arrival, guests are escorted to their rooms for private registration and introduction to the hotel's amenities. Celebrating couples, vacationers, and business travelers enjoy the calm, almost-residential atmosphere of this five-acre oceanfront resort that dates from 1917.

Amenity highlights: The bottom of the heated oceanside pool is covered with an orchid mosaic composed of about a million glass tiles, and surrounded by a terrazzo deck; attendants supply cold towels, cooling spritzers, and CD players with headsets. In the spa, treatments focus on South Pacific healing methods and are offered in suites opening onto private courtyard patios. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel.

Insider tip: In front of the resort, a freshwater channel passes through the reefs into the ocean. Guides can lead guests to spots in the ocean where the cold mountain water can be felt, places considered by ancient Hawaiians to have healing properties.

From the moment you're greeted you'll know the Halekulani is special. No need to check in at the front desk! They don't even take your credit card number until you've been escorted to your room and shown its features. The location is convenient to shopping, and there's a beautiful view of Diamond Head.

Don't normally stay at fancy places like this...but did it for the honeymoon experience. Place is wonderful. At first, looks a bit shadowed by the other large hotels...but the coziness and charm is definitely there. Service was wonderful...don't notice they're there until you need them.
