Features
What to expect: Presidents, royalty, and celebrities have frequented this hotel built in the style of an Italian palazzo since it opened in 1926. Today, business travelers cluster beneath the lobby’s gilded ceiling or in the cherry-paneled Library Lounge during the week. On weekends, leisure travelers move in, often to attend an event in the glittering Crystal Ballroom.

Amenity highlights: A fitness room on the second floor has exercise bikes, treadmills, free weights, a cross-trainer, stair machine, and multi-weight machine. All public areas have high-speed wireless Internet access (surcharge), and the hotel offers meeting and business facilities and services.

Insider tip: Because of its proximity to the White House, major media outlets, and K Street powerbrokers, the St. Regis’s lobby is a prime people-watching spot. The hotel is also less than a mile from some of the city’s chicest boutiques, such as Burberry and Pink, as well as bargains at Filene’s Basement.

St. Regis Restaurant - This 125-seat restaurant serves American cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Crystal chandeliers drip from the vintage hand-stenciled ceiling, and contemporary prints of fruit and vegetables hang on the yellow faux-finished walls. Manicured hedges and small trees can be seen through the Palladian windows that punctuate the hotel’s façade.

Library Lounge - Cherry paneling, bookcases lined with leather-bound volumes, plush wine-red carpets, and a black-marble bar create a rich atmosphere in this lofty room overlooking K Street, one of Washington’s major power corridors. In addition to drinks, the lounge serves dinner and the occasional wine tasting.

From the moment we arrived, every member of the staff was courteous and helpful beyond our expectations. The hotel is beautiful, the room was lovely and comfortable. The location in the city is perfect... close enough to everything for a nice walk, but a cab is never far away.

The best part of this hotel was the location, just a bit north of the White House and pretty much in walking distance to The Mall. In addition, it is close to three MetroRail stations for futher travel in the DC Area. As for the hotel itself, it is a bit dated but on the whole was a nice place to stay. No exhaust fan in the bathroom but it was ok and it had excellent turndown and maid service - no complaints about the staff. The only thing I would say is that some updating and renovation would be an upgrade, but it would also lose some of the atmosphere which helps the hotel to stand out. Recommended for others.

I booked the St. Regis at a great package rate just before the Memorial Day holiday and was surprisingly disappointed. I thought I would be treating myself and instead got an average hotel at best. The hotel does not appear to be managed or maintained very well. The rooms are very tired and there was mildew in the shower. It certainly is not what you would expect from a St. Regis....there is an overall lack of attention to detail. The gym is small and the equimpment is old - the "personal" TV on the treadmill didn't work and one piece of equipment was broken. My TV remote didn't work and had to call to get a new one and then half the channels didn't come in. On a positive note, I enjoyed a wonderful dinner through room service and the lobby is beautiful. There are a few employees that are wonderful. The hotel has great bones, but it is in dire need of renovation.

The Saint Regis was a very nice hotel. The staff was extremely attentive, however the rooms were a bit small and outdated. The beds could have been more comfortable. The highlights of the hotel include the location, 3 blocks to the White House, and close to the Metro system. The resturant, Olives, across the street is excellent.

The lobby and are awesome. The rooms are very nice but very small. The area around the hotel would be much nicer during a non-holiday period. Many of the restaurants in the area are closed on weekends and holidays.
