| What hotel would not provide mattresses? The beds consisted of two stacked box springs, with only a sheet covering them. The creepy hallways were difficult to negotiate, and reminded me of the Winchester Mystery House. There was no A/C or ventilation, and even on a cool day the interiors were very hot and stuffy, and full of cigarette smoke. Pipes in the ceiling were exposed and leaking, and the alarmed doors in the back were propped open, even at night. The carpets were probably 50 years old. The only parking left was in the mud. Didn't check out the common areas; just woke up and left.

| no soap or shampoo is given in the bathrooms, so make sure you bring your own. the food was also a little expensive, but there are a lot of pubs and other places to eat in the area. if you plan on watching tv, then you should know that there are only about four or five channels.

| This was the best part of our trip to England. This hotel knows how to treat tourists unfortunately the rest of England was not as friendly.

| Front desk staff have an apathetic attitude, I had to wait 4 hours for room, then struggle through narrow dirty corridors and strong spring loaded doors with luggage, no carts. No air conditioning, during a heatwave. No soap second day.

| Old hotel with no air conditioing, my 14 year old daughter was not allowed in the pool with her father after 7 p.m.; we did not check in until approx. 6 p.m.There was no way to cool off and there were no exceptions made for any of the guests. This was not communicated to me when I booked the hotel nor when I checked in. Given the recent heat wave I would have thought the staff would be more accomadating. All the beds were uncomftable - I don't think the mattresses have been replaced - maybe ever. Awful experience, I would never stay there again.

| A quaint old-style European Hotel set in nicely landscaped area. The first thing we were never told was that we could get a complimentary shuttle from the airport, so we paid 14 BP for a taxi. When we reached the hotel at 11am, we were told that we couldn't check in until 2pm despite the fact that we had been on the red eye from the US and were exhausted. The room itself was relatively comfortable and nicely decorated, but the mattress left something to be desired. There was also no air conditioning in the hotel. Opening the windows relieved some of the discomfort in our room, but the hallways had wooden fire doors every 50 feet with no circulation between them, making the hallways stifling and hot. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and courteous and the room was cleaned well every day.

| Europa Gatwick is perfect if you are looking for convenience to the airport. Compared to the hotels that you will get in downtown London, this place is pretty nice. The rooms are the size of your average American hotel and the lobby has a country Inn feel to it. The breakfast isn't free, but the food in England isn't that great anyway.

| If you are travelling through London, especially Gatwick, it's a good hotel to stay over for one night as you wait for the flight, otherwise it's far away from the city and is in the middle of nowhere. Also mind that, though they have a shuttle, it only runs once an hour.

| We arrived to a very musty room very much in need of renovation--old carpet, peeling wallpaper, etc. No air-conditioning. Our room had a nice view overlooking the fountain in the courtyard. There was a small terrace between two rooms. The door to this terrace was the only air -- no windows. The people from the other room could have walked into our room and we could have walked into theirs easily with the doors open. It was around 90 degrees when we stayed there and we had to make a choice at night -- security or breathing since that door was the only source of fresh air. Other rooms not overlooking the courtyard may not have these terraces. The room was also noisy at bedtime and we had to shut the door because of noise of people sitting at outside tables. The best part of the hotel was the pool and health club facility which costs extra but was worth it, and the free shuttle. We would not stay here again.

| The hotel needs refurbishment now. Location is good. My bed was made up so that the mattress was not covered fully. The telly did not work properly and parts of it were broken off. Furniture functioned fine, but was loaded with scratches and frayed corners, etc. Some staff were fine (Ukrainian man in bar especially), but others were indifferent.
