| I read reviews which stated this hotel had issues with cleanliness & air conditioning. Since it was a Best Western franchise I decided to take a chance book a room. Upon arrival, our air conditioner was broken and the promised "balcony on every room" was actually just the walkway in front of the hotel rooms. Also, I smoke and booked a non-smoking room, but on check-in found out that all rooms were non-smoking. Now the good news. The staff was very quick & gracious to upgrade us to a large, pool view room. We found it to be clean, with refridge & microwave. The moral of the story, if you book here, get a pool room, otherwise pass it up.

| We have been to other Best Westerns and had much higher expectations of this one as a result. Walking on the floor barefoot made out feet dirty. Afraid to touch surfaces - continential breakfastis a joke. For the cost I don't expect elegance, but do expect a place that is not so very run down and not well maintained.

| The room was not clean, the air conditioning did not work, and it smelled unclean. We left the next morning for another hotel.

| Although my general impressions of Sarasota's customer service are mostly negative, I must say the employees at the Golden Host Resort are great. They are helpful and cooperative unlike other businesses I encountered in this city. I was not too fond of the room not being cleaned and the lack of television stations that were not available. With a little more cleanliness, HBO, TBS, Univision, & the WB, this hotel will rank at the top of my list. But again, this hotel has great customer service and that is the most important thing.

| Our room had not been cleaned when we checked in. We were moved to another room on ground floor, with only full bed, not queen we'd reserved. They didn't offer to clean the room we'd reserved. The hotel is close to the highway, and traffic noise made relaxing by the pool unpleasent. The door to the room was pretty flimsy and didn't close very tight, and there was no deadbolt, just a bracket thing that didn't impress. There are rooms with patios near pool area, but none available when we booked. Rooms are rather small compared to photo online. It is pretty close to area shopping and beaches so if you aren't fussy it will do. There is a lot close by to do. It was clean, a tad threadbare. Adjacent restaurant not very impressive either. If you're just spending the night, not extended stay its not bad for the price.
