Features
What to expect: Corporate and leisure travelers and parents of Georgetown or George Washington University students frequent this 10-story white-brick hotel housed in a renovated 1960s apartment building. The postmodern, playful decor is fittingly hip in Dupont Circle, one of the city’s most popular areas. Jazz wafts through the long glass-and-wood lobby, and velvet-paneled elevators have copper-tiled ceilings. Amenity highlights: Firefly, Madera’s 85-seat restaurant, provides a bright backdrop for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or cocktails at the curved wooden, backlit bar. A nightly manager’s reception offers guests complimentary wine, and pets receive complimentary treats in guestrooms. Insider tip: Some of the city’s funkiest stores and restaurants are north of the hotel in Dupont Circle. Bibliophiles peruse the shelves for used books at Second Story Books, three blocks away. Six blocks from the hotel, Secondi sells second-hand designer clothes and Teaism serves tea and Asian-influenced fare.
Firefly - A large, birch-like artificial tree twinkling with lanterns dominates the center of this restaurant's dining room, while a wall of birch trees forms one side of a small dining alcove in the back. A stone wall separates the dining room from the kitchen, where chefs prepare contemporary American dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The lounge side of Firefly has a backlit bar of amber glass.

| The location of the Madera was great!!! Quite enough to get a great night sleep, with easy access to the shops and restaurants at Dupont Circle. Very close to the metro, so you can get anywhere in the city with no problems (also only a 10min walk to Georgetown area). Staff was fantastic- very pleasant and always ready to help. The bathroom was small, but who really spends that much time in the bathroom. I will definitely go back to the Madera when I go to D.C. again.

| The location is fantastic just off Dupont circle. The decor is funky but tasteful, and the rooms are quite nice. My only complaints are that there is no wireless internet access, and the rooms are a bit small.

| As soon as we arrived we were promptly met with the kindest staff. They were helpful, and amenable. There was complimentary wine in the lobby, and the wine was quite good, a choice of red or white, both were dry but smoothe. The rooms were big, comfortable, very clean, and very comfortable. I was pleased with every experience along the way. I would not only stay here again, but I would reccomend this hotel for anyone traveling to the DC area. It is perfectly located near Dupont Circle, which offers a variety of nightlife. The hotel staff can help point you in the right direction of the atmosphere you are looking for. The price is reasonable, as are the amenities offered.

| Kimpton has transformed an ugly early 1960s building into a chic, fun hotel with great amenities like high speed Internet. Fabulous location, near DuPont Circle, and a reasonable rate (for DC, that is). Staff is great--I liked the personal attention paid to me as a woman traveling alone.
