Features
What to expect: Located on Kuhio Avenue, a main thoroughfare for Honolulu's excellent public-bus system, the Miramar at Waikiki attracts budget travelers who want to vacation in the district without paying oceanfront prices.

Amenity highlights: Open to views and breezes, the sundeck around the pool is one of Waikiki's best to enjoy the sun. Or, guests can walk a block through the International Market Place next to the hotel's side entrance, cross the street, take a public-access path between two oceanfront luxury hotels, and stroll onto Waikiki Beach, which is open to the public.

Insider tip: Mellow, family-friendly Kuhio Beach Park adjoins Waikiki Beach on the Diamond Head side. The park features an expansive, enclosed saltwater lagoon of calm, shallow water with a sand bottom, perfect for toddlers and relaxed swimming. Beach volleyball, sheltered picnic tables, coconut-tree-shaded lawns, and a finger pier make the park popular with visitors and residents alike.

Café Peoni - Located on the fifth floor, this spot serves a sumptuous buffet breakfast.

Banana Patch Lounge - This lively place on the lobby level is a karaoke lounge.

Denny's Family Restaurant - The popular, low-priced chain restaurant serves American favorites.

Fatty's Chinese Restaurant - On the alley just outside the lobby, this small place serves Chinese fast food.

Mikawon II Korean Restaurant - Another lobby-level restaurant, this spot specializes in Korean barbecue items.

Pool Bar - This is the spot where sun lovers quench their thirst and buy light lunches.

The room was a little small but did have a mini-fridge at no extra cost. Rooms are well kept and the AC works like a champ. But do you go to Hawaii to stay in a hotel room? The staff was very helpful and the hotel is clean. The location is very centrally located in Waikiki you can walk to everything from there including the beach. Pre-purchase the breakfast buffet it is well worth it. When and not if we go back this hotel will definitely be on our family's list. Our family definitely recommends this hotel.

The Miramar fit the bill for what my family and I were looking for: affordable, clean, safe, and close to the beach. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, especially with an unexpected late checkout on our last day there. I would certainly recommend this hotel to families...it is walking distance from the beach, and great dining and shopping.

This was a very nice hotel. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms are not huge but with the balcany it was plenty of room for two adults and two teenagers. After all, in Hawaii you only use the room to sleep, shower and change clothes. The location is great next to the International Market Place and a couple of blocks to the beach. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our flight home did not leave until late and they kept our bags in a secure room for us. I would stay here again. The only negative was the street noise was quite loud with the balcany door open, even on the 17th floor. However, we were in Hawaii and it was tolerable. Again, this was a great hotel for the price.

The Miramar is anice hotel, near the shops and the beach and our room had a view of the ocean, a bit blocked by another hotel but only 25% of the view was blocked. The rooms were quality, but you could see the years worn in the rooms. I like that the AC goes off when you open the sliding glass doors, we have coffee in the room and there is a Denny's next door to grab a bite in the morning. Also, the shopping is literraly out the side door. One morning my boyfriend went to the 7-11 a block away to get us some milk and such. It was a bout 5am. He said he was approached by at least 5 prostitutes on the way there and back. I asked if they were Hawaiian and he said they were all white. The other interesting thing we found was that no one has to wear helmets on motorcycles. Overall I was satisied with the Miramar, but next time I want to be right on the beach.

This hotel is centralized to every need. It may not be a 5 star, but who stays in their hotel while on vacation. Waikiki beach is only one block away and there are restaurants all around.

For a budget motel, by Waikiki standards, I didn't expect much. Was even a little anxious as to what we were going to find. I was met with a good first impression when we arrived at the lobby, but when we reached our floor, I was taken a little aback by the decor. Seemed a little old, bland, but by the second day of our six-day stay, we felt right at home. Don't expect a high-class room, what you might normally get for the price in the mainland, but don't be too quick to judge, either. Our room was very comfortable and in a great location. I do agree with a prior comment that the elevators seemed to take forever during busier times. It was so awesome to walk out the back of the motel right into the International Market Place. The beach is also a very easy, beautiful walk away. In all, had an incredible time. Besides, if you try to take in even half of what you expect to do, you won't find yourself in your room for long anyway.

Good price and location. Paid parking, but didn't have any problems trying to find a space which I thought would be a concern.Close to beach (that was open after the sewage spill). Pool was decent and nice for kids. Rooms were clean and you can hit a paid Skywave wireless internet connection from the balcony. Fridge was nice, but the extra $1.50 charge for coffee packs was a first. Normally you get a new filter pack each day you stay, but not here. Would stay again.

on my 1st trip to waikiki, we stayed at a 3+ stars hotel. i picked a cheaper hotel this time so i could take my foster children. the room was very clean and the maid was always available in the am. the hotel staff was the best and we were able to arrange a 6pm checkout for a few dollars more since the flight wasn't until 11pm. paying for breakfast was worth it but i thought i was paying for all 4 and it only covered 2 adults. but it was not a problem. the lady with the red hair in the restaurant was the nicest and kindest person to my kids and i appreciate that over anything else. she helped to make it an amazing trip for the 3 kids.

We have stayed at the Miramar 3-4 times. It is an older hotel, but clean, comfortable, and convenient to beach and activities. The buffet breakfast is fantastic. If you're looking for a nice place to stay without spending alot of money, try the Miramar.
