We spend 7 nights at this hotel. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is friendly. We have two children ages 2 and 5. They did not want to leave the hotel to go to area attractions. All they wanted to do was go to the family pool. The family pool has a sand at one end that gradually increases to only 4 feet deep. It was great even for our 2 year old. We didn't have to worry so much about the deepness of the water, which is great. There is a bar close to the pool and also a hot tub. The couple down sides to the hotel is walking distance to your room if you choose to self-park, which is an extra $10.00 a day. If you choose to valet, it is an extra $20.00 a day. The cost of room service is high and one time during that week they had a gathering around the family pool in the evening which they asked us to leave the pool area, they were nice about it though. We would not hesitate to stay here again. One of the best hotels in the area, especially for kids!

With 2 very young kids in tow, we decided to book a last minute weekend getaway to La Costa. They just opened their Kidtopia program, and it was a raging success. We heard kids pleading with their parents to let them stay longer. Make sure to book with Kidtopia 24 hours in advance if you want to enroll your kids! My 2 year old LOVED La Costa, particularly the family pool (complete with "sandy beach"). Everything was great, save for the food. I had probably the worst meal in a long time at the Legends restaurant. I imagine prison food would have tasted the same. We also tried ate at the pricey and upscale Blue Fire Grill. The food there wasn't much better (just 3 times more expensive). Will we ever come back? Most likely. Lousy food aside, our family still had a wonderful experience!

Although our room was older and a little musty smelling, it was very clean. The staff (especially valet/bell service!) were wonderful. The atmosphere is extraordinarily relaxing - especially after being at Disneyland for a few days! Great kids pool with sand to play in.

A great hotel, but service can be improved. Employees at the front desk and the restaurants are not that organized.

I debated between booking this hotel and another nearby resort; I think I made a great choice. It is an older hotel, but completely renovated and up to date, with lots of nice amenities. My wife and I were traveling with our five year old daughter and we found it to be a family-friendly resort. There is no pictures of the kids pool on their website - but this is where we spent most of our time, it is perfect for kids and because of "Splash", the poolside bar, it's a perfect place for parents to relax also. They have a nicely equipped athletic club, and a very nice spa/salon, that my wife and daughter enjoyed. We encountered very friendly and professional staff. We will definitely stay at LaCosta on our next trip to San Diego. I would like to try their very beautiful golf course next time. I really don't think you can go wrong here.

We loved out stay at La Costa. The staff was friendly and professional. The resort had activities for all ages. The kids will definitely hate to leave after the stay because there was many things to do to stay entertained. The spa and golfing was wonderful. Can't wait to return.

I was not what I expected. I have had family stay here before and raved about it. I arrived around 11:00am and was taken to my room. The room smelled musty and wet. I decided to eat lunch in my room since I wanted to take a nap to get over jet lag. I went to my book that contanied the menus. My book was missing the lunch and dinner menu. I called Room Service and asked told them I did not have a lunch or dinner menu. I was informed that it would be a while before they could get me one. I called the front desk after and about 45 minutes and one attempt at them bringing me the wrong menu, I finally got a menu. The glasses in the bathroom had obviously not been washed. You could tell that someone had put their toothbrush in them because they still had a white toothpaste grime in the bottom. I dont think I would stay here again.
