    Features
What to expect: Capturing the essence of an upscale hunting lodge, the lobby is a menagerie of mounted trophy game, including huge polar and Kodiak bears, caribou, Dall sheep, and moose heads. An eagle statue stands by the entrance; just beyond is a six-foot globe. Leather couches, a massive rock fireplace, and a big-screen TV invite relaxation. Guests include athletes, entertainers, businesspeople, and political leaders—including President Jimmy Carter. Many combine their Anchorage visit with backcountry adventures via floatplane.

Amenity highlights: The hotel is situated along Lake Spenard, a busy floatplane base. Both the Flying Machine restaurant and the Fancy Moose lounge provide views of the floatplanes. Come summer, locals and guests flock to the Fancy Moose’s lakefront patio for fresh seafood, drinks, spectacular sunsets, and floatplane-watching. The hotel also has its own floatplane dock.

Insider tip: The Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum, a mile from the hotel, displays rare Alaskan bush planes, military craft, and planes undergoing restoration. Among the historic craft is the 1928 Stearman, which flew to arctic villages with diphtheria serum in 1931 and, in 1932, was one of the first planes to land on Mount McKinley. The museum is open daily except Tuesdays, June 1–September 15; weekends the rest of the year.

The Flying Machine - Two-level restaurant with view of floatplanes and lake from most tables. Wood-burning fireplace. Crab-Stuffed Halibut, Cedar Plank Alaskan Salmon, Tomato Bisque, Millennium Alaskan Berry Cobbler with homemade ice cream among menu highlights. Extensive wine list. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, Sunday champagne brunch. Espresso stand outside entrance, open daily.

Fancy Moose Lounge - Draft beers, specialty cocktails. Fresh, wild-caught seafood, plus burgers, nachos, soups, salads. Moose head mounted above bar. Alcove with fireplace and couch. Large lakefront patio with up-close views of floatplanes. Open late morning until late night.

The hotel wasn't bad, but it wasn't worth the money. The rooms were old and not very nice. You could get a nicer room at a cheaper hotel and get free internet. This hotel was old and the internet was pretty expensive when you consider the hotel down the road has free internet and free breakfast. The hotel has a really unusual (bad) setup. There is only one real entrance, so if you stay at the other end of the hotel it could be a really long walk. The hotel isn't set up in the traditional style where there the elevator is in the middle and there are wings off of it. It is just one really long winding hallway. Our room was almost the last room in the hall, so it took us quite a while to get to it. Not so relaxing after a long flight. I wouldn't stay there again or recommend it. The view from the hotel bar was nice though. That is about the only plus for this place.

I recently stayed at this hotel. When I arrived, I was told that the non-smoking rooms were sold out. Needless to say, the room that I had to stay in stunk of cigarettes. I wasn't given any other options, but to take this room for the night. The hotel needs upgrading; rooms old-looking and need some work. Bathroom very small. The lobby was dark and dirty. The staff wasn't very helpful. I don't think this hotel deserves the rating that it gets. I would rate this at 2 star, but that's even pushing it.

The Millenium is a great place to stay in Anchorage. The rooms are large with extra sinks and vanity areas outside of the bathroom. There are lots of wild animals on the walls of the lobby giving a real Alaska feel. The restaurant, while pricey, is excellent. There is a nice place to sit outside for more casual dining while watching the planes on the lake. We will go back!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Pretty good rates compared to other hotels in Anchorage. Unfortunately it is near to the airport but not near to the city center (where all the attractions are). Hotel does provide shuttle to the city. Take note of the timing of the shuttle, runs not every hour but like every 3 hours!!! And if the shuttle is full, you will have to take the next one (comes in another 3 hours time) or take a cab. Buffet breakfast is Very GOOD! Overall, quite a good hotel. My kids were impressed with the wildlifes in the lobby.

Has beautiful lake behind hotel where the float planes take off and land. They have a great bar and quiet restaurant where you can watch the planes! Not to mention the ability to order such good room service was definitely a BONUS!!

The room was squeaky clean, the beds were small and uncomfortable even for doubles, the service was great, the restaraunt food was delicious. The lobby furniture was old and tattered. Overall it was good and I would stay there again. I would like to see the same attention given to the overall condition of the hotel that is given to the cleanliness of the rooms.
