| For the last four years and since we do not live in Houston, my family has used this hotel before and after our flights to Europe and back. It is a quick 10 minutes free shuttle ride to IAH, it is clean, quiet and has a great restaurant on site. Clearly the best among the IAH vicinity hotels in total value. Foreign airlines use the hotel for crew accomodations. It is Great!

| This place is quite a find, for a reasonable price. Beautiful lobby, and relaxing pool/spa. I did not get a chance to eat at the restaurant, but the menu was inviting. A real bargain for the price!

| The online virtual tour shows a hotel with an exquisite lobby and charming rooms. The lobby and hallways where well maintained and beautifully. However, once I opened the door to my room, it was as if I had stepped into the seediest fleabag hotel on the planet. The carpet was filthy with a large orange stain. The fixtures on the walls were hanging on by a thread. Furthermore the drains in the bathtub and basin were clogged with the water going out at a snails pace. In addition, the water in the toilet rose to the top and slowly seeped out. The one ray of sunshine in this dump was one of the concierges. The rest of the staff appeared to want to be somewhere else instead of at the Hotel Sofitel.

| Some of the reviews for this hotel sounded a little negative, so I wanted to review it to set the record straight. This place was great. The service was great, the price was great, the room was great... The pool is more than great, with a cool little waterfall area, a nice layout, and sort of lava-rock walls instead of just regular cement. We loved this hotel. The only thing we didn't love was the prices in the restaurant. We ate breakfast there and the cost for pancakes and oatmeal was totally out of line. I couldn't believe they were listed in US dollars - at first I thought the prices must have been some foreign currency that trades at like 10:1 or something. The only other breakfast option is a MacDonalds across the street. But if you bring your own breakfast, this hotel is the best deal in Houston by far. Best staff, best rooms, and best pool for the best price.

| The lobby, swimming pool and restaurant are in great condition and are kept up extremely well. However, the rooms require necessary maintanance. The paint on the walls are peeling, the carpets are old and stained. The rooms need a good thorough cleaning. There are cobwebs in some corners, and dust everywhere. They need to pay as much attention to the rooms as they do to the rest of the hotel. They need to upgrade their televisions. Although the hotel conditions need to be looked at the customer service provided by the employees is good! Enjoyed the pool!! At this time, based on the problems with the rooms, I could not recommend this hotel. However, this could easily be an excellent hotel if they maintained and remodeled their rooms.

| I was anxious to see the Sofitel Hotel as it looks so great in other cities, but in Houston the inside of the hotel looked elegant, yet the rooms were totally outdated. It just didn't give that french feel of what you expect, please renovate!!

| I do not know why many hotels do not have a coffee maker in room anymore, but this hotel joins that trend of no coffee. It also has the room windows that face into the arboretum and can not be opened, another of my pet peeves. On the plus side, attentive and friendly staff.

| I hope to never set foot in this hotel again. Sofitel should sell this one. The room was 60 degrees, the airport shuttle wasn't running, room noise and the pre-set alarm clock woke me up- three times, the food was terrible. Staff- very polite- that's all this place has going for it.

| The rooms are OK but on the small side. The closet doors were in need of re-painting. There was no hotel amenities book in the rooom, but one was provided when we asked. The best part of this hotel was the public spaces. The atrium was great, the bar was generous, and the food was much better than average. If youdon't spend much time in the room, this is a fine place. If you want to lay around and relax, you can find a better room.
