Nice place, but I'd never return or recommend it: too little value for high rates. There is a charge for everything, including extra room towels, inflatable pool toys for the kids, Internet access in the lobby. Service is lackadaisical. A few reality checks past the flowery brochures: 1. The place is on the water, but what they don't tell you is "the water" is an unswimmable section of bay. (Staff warned us that this area is so far from the ocean that the water is not clean.) The views, however, are very nice. If you want real beaches, take the side road to the coast and drive north toward La Jolla. 2. It does offer good access to points of interest, including walking paths around Mission Bay Park. High marks for that, but the trade-off is that nothing is walkable - except Mission Bay Park - because you're just off the highway. 3. The hotel restaurant is quite expensive, as is the pool bar. Food is good. The place is nice, but not worth the rates, and there's simply not enough to do on-site to call it a resort. (They do offer wave runners, sailboats, bikes for rent.)

I think you way over pay for what you get. Very nice pool, very little 'beach' front. Had a patio, but it just opened up to the grounds. I could sit on the patio, while the kids ran in the grass, and could look out over the water, and that was really nice, but the room was small, and the price was big. It was very relaxing to be at the pool, and to sit on the beach, but still just to expensive for what you are getting.

Not sure what it takes to get a rating of 4 stars, but I really can't believe this is it. To begin with, the service at the hotel restaurant was slow...slow...slow, prices were very high and food quality and selection was average. Just an example...for my son, I ordered a kids plate of pasta with butter...just under $10. As to the room, it always felt damp and the room and hall outside the room had a very musty smell. The bath towels felt like sandpaper. Quality of housekeeping was average. On our second day there, they removed the shower liner and left only the curtain...it was never replaced (we were there six days, five nights). Some days they replenished all the bath linens, some days they did not. Lastly, I attempted several times during the week to check my room balance and complete the guest survey and then today to check out via the TV only to discover each time that the service was "unavailable at this time"...so I still had to go to the front desk to check out. The only positives I can find are that this resort had a nice pool and nice view of the bay and Seaworld's nightly fireworks.

We didn't rent a car for this trip, and it would have been handy occasionally. We were wanting to use public transportation and also get some exercise by biking, walking, etc. We did take the trolley to the Padres game and that was fun. It was too far to walk to the beach, we did ride bikes to the beach and that was a good day. I think it would be really nice if they provided shuttles to some of the main area attractions, such as sea world or the beach. I don't think it's appropriate to charge $15 per night to park your vehicle. All in all, really nice place, nice people, the restrauant was very good, quite expensive, and no alternative for dining close by. We had a great time roller blading, also, the paths right there at the hotel were wonderful, right along the city parks, which are immaculate and very safe feeling and friendly.

We had to wait for our room to check in. The staff kept giving us the run around. Inside your room is a nice basket of candy with a nice price tag on each one! Along with two bottles of water which also had a price tag on it. Give me a break! How cheap can this hotel be? The food was way and I mean way over priced.Ocean view? No bay view if that what you can call a big dirty thing of water that you can't even swim in! Will never stay there again. They need to lose thier stars!

The hotel has a great deal of potential because of great architecture and a beautiful location. Unfortunately, the exterior of the buildings is in need of some maintainance. Most importantly, the quality of service was not adequate for the rates that were charged. I have no problem paying for good service, but that's not what we got. Neither one of the phones in the room worked properly, we could never get through to room service, the vending machines (our only other option) were sold out, the concierge either didn't pick up or didn't have the answer to our question, and the list goes on...

Well the good first. The hotel is well kept up. Rooms very clean and spacious. We got the King Garden Lanai room with the "bayview" Not much of a view except you could look from one side of the patio and see about 50 feet of shoreline maybe. Save your money and get a regular room. The buffet breakfast was very good. The beds are awesome. Shower had plenty of water power and clean. Nice locataion, close to Sea World and even Gaslamp area was a 10 minute drive at most. We had a few little issues. First off, they said we did not get the free breakfast according to their records. Not sure if this was expedia's fault but luckily i had my confirmation print out which stated breakfast to be included. Its 18 bucks a person so print it out! Second, on sat nite we could not find a parking spot. Had to go back to valet, which they were nice and parked it for free but still had to walk 5 minutes back to our room and do the same in the morning to get the vehicle. Finally, the only other minor glitch was service in the restaurant-its very busy at times and you can wait 15-20 minutes to be seated. Not a huge deal but still kind of a pain. Other than those minor things, it was a very nice stay. Kid oriented, great pool, and nice rooms. Employee's were very friendly in the buffet area as well. Plus its not in the busy downtown area which we really liked...
