Features
What to expect: Opened in 1921 as a residential-style hotel, this handsome brick building is in the prestigious Midtown East area, adjoining historic Murray Hill. The front door, adorned with bronze scrollwork, opens to a mahogany-paneled lobby with hardwood floors, artfully arranged fresh flowers, a basket of apples, and Regency-style, swan-necked chairs. Brass wall sconces subtly illuminate the room, enhancing the gracious, refined ambience.
Amenity highlights: Just off the main lobby, guests can relax in the English Country-style living room, an intimate retreat with tall bookshelves, gas fireplace, hardwood floors, and formal, tie-back curtains. Equally attractive are the paneled Club Lounge, setting for the generous Continental breakfast, and the Club Bar, serving complimentary hors d'oeuvres weekday evenings.
Insider tip: Located on the Lexington Avenue side of Grand Central Terminal, the Grand Central Market is a great place to pick up gourmet goodies to go, from bagels and brownies to produce and pasta salads. One floor down, the popular food court includes the Little Pie Company, where the Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie is one of many temptations.
Club Lounge - Extensive Continental breakfast buffet, including pastries, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs. Dark-paneled decor reminiscent of an English golf-course clubhouse. Complimentary newspapers and magazines. Street views. Club Bar - Handsome, club-like room with polished carved-mahogany bar, wingback chairs. Light dinner daily; complimentary hors d'oeuvres weekday evenings. The hotel does not have its own full-service restaurant, but many of Manhattan’s top dining destinations are within easy walking distance. Complimentary delivery is available from some. Nearby restaurants: Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse Artisanal Rossini’s Frere Jacques Rio Grande

| Found the hotel staff pleasant and helpful. Rooms are typical for NYC hotels, albeit a little larger than most. Only recommendation, update and remodel bathrooms. Need work.
