| We were looking for a hotel ON the beach - this is it. The rooms were uninspired, but kept very clean for the entire week. The front desk personnel were some of the friendliest I've encountered. We requested (and got after 2 nights) a room change due to having a view of a wall rather than a garden view. Not much privacy to these "garden view" rooms either. Lots of children, so not a very romantic choice. Can walk to some restaurants, and are within a few minutes drive to many more. Expensive shopping is close too. Great views of kayakers and sunsets. Minutes away from racing at Del Mar.

| The Sea Lodge is right on La Jolla Shores beach, which is my favorite beach for families in San Diego. There are great restaurants, surf shops, and a grocery store just up the street. The decor isn't exactly cutting-edge, it's your basic beach hotel, but the staff is very friendly and accomodating. It's not a bargain, but still always full in the summer because the location is so great. We'd stay here again.

| The Sea Lodge oviously caters to families, which is one of the reasons we chose it. The location is superb(literally 10 steps away from the beach). Hotel staff were friendly, prompt, and courteous. The rooms were clean and well maintained, but a bit too small for our family of 4. We've stayed in many other hotels with 2 queen beds in a room, and most of them had ample storage for clothing. This one didn't. We had suitcases spread out all over the floor, so it had the appearance of being very disorganized whenever we entered the room. The management should invest in an additional set of drawers for each room. The 3 small drawers beneath the entertainment center are not sufficient if you plan to stay more than 2 or 3 days. Overall, the location can't be beat and we'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

| This is a great hotel for a beach location in La Jolla. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. Very kid friendly. Great restaurants just a block away (especially Piatti's). Downsides: The parking costs $12/day and they don't tell you about the charge when you book. Also, they stop re-filling the free coffee carafes at ~ 6:30 am, so the coffee is gone by 7 - apparently a directive by management! This was really annoying, and a ploy to gouge you for 3.50$ in the restaurant.

| Very nice hotel. Is located right next to the beach. They provided and set up beach chairs, sun umbrellas, and towels. Good central location to site see all of the area attractions. Restaurants in hotel, but many others of different types all within a short walking distance. Beautiful view and nice neighborhood.

| If you want a vacation where you're steps away from the beach and within an arms reach of a margarita then this is a place for you. If you're looking for a quiet vacation away from kids then this isn't the place for you. The king bed is to die for!!! I never wanted to sleep in a queen size bed again. The pool is a little small but who needs a pool when you have the Pacific Ocean. The location couldn't be better with nice restaurants nearby. Overall a very nice hotel, clean, with a very nice staff.

| The Sea Lodge at La Jolla is in a great location - right on the beach, just a short walk to some stores and a quick drive to downtown in La Jolla. The pool was comfortable, but smaller than it appeared in the pictures. The staff was friendly, but the service level was just average. For the price and the location, it was a good deal, but you could probably find nicer in La Jolla.

| San Diego has very few options when it comes to staying ON the beach. Look no further than the classic seaside hotel, The Sea Lodge. It offers great value---off season-- for those that want to stay at a hotel that offers friendly service, a hacienda style and walk right onto the beach. Our room was a corner unit on the second floor overlooking the surf and the adjacent park. Many surfers, kayakers and divers could be seen from the huge balcony. The suite room had a mini fridge, 2 TV's and a sitting area. Surf lessons and good restaurants were close; Sushi, Italian and Mexican. Cannot wait to go back with the kids someday!

| Very impressed with the housekeeping staff and the service on the beach. Really great people. The front desk was less than helpful in trying to track down good restaurants, and they took every opportunity to hawk their own restaurants. The rooms were not impressive for the price, but not bad by any stretch. Just know you are paying for beach views and/or easy access to the ocean. The beach is quiet and was never overly busy, although it fills up every day. There seemed to be more families. Locals said that the Mission Bay beaches tended to be more busy with a singles/college type crowd. The Birch Aquarium is very close to the hotel as well and is recommended. Overall the hotel met our expectations and our vacation was excellent.

| The hotel location was great - right on the beach. You can tell it is an older hotel - they need to update the rooms. I wasn't real impressed with the rooms, our room was clean but not fancy at all for the price. The bar was under construction so you could only get limited types of drinks & it closed at 10:30 p.m. without a last call!
