    Shilo Inn Newport Hotel Amenities
Located one-half mile west of downtown Newport, this four-story hotel sits on a bluff overlooking Nye Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Guests can eat in two restaurants, swim in two indoor pools (the sea is fairly rough in this area), or visit the beach via a long, 95-step stairway. Additional amenities include fresh fruit and popcorn in the lobby, meeting space for up to 490 people, and a cardroom with blackjack tables. Parking is free.

    Recreation
The hotel has two indoor pools. A 95-step stairway leads down to the beach, but cold water and strong currents make swimming difficult.

The Newport area is a popular spot for deep-sea fishing, motor boating, and whale-watching. Several nearby beaches offer good surfing for experienced cold-water riders. Two public golf courses are located within 10 miles.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

    Features
Shilo Restaurant & Lounge - Steaks, pastas, and local seafoods top the menu at this restaurant overlooking the ocean. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch.

Shilo Café - This casual restaurant features a salad bar, lunch buffets, and other family-friendly dishes. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Cheaper hotels have better ammenities. The view was nice, but the room was small, mold in the grout - I know it's wet on the coast, but that's really not okay. No breakfast, no spa, the pool was a nasty yellow color - needed cleaning and painting even if it was warm.

Nice place and very friendly staff. Was a deal and they also have rooms with kitchens. Has two indoor pools and quick access to the beach just a few flights of stairs down. Skip the restaurant though and eat breakfast and Georgie's just down at the next hotel. Very family friendly.

The room layout was odd - unlike most good hotels we have stayed at. Also, for some reason, there were bottles of water ( small ones ) everywhere in the room for $1.50. This seemed a bit tacky. Did not compare to other places we stayed at which offered breakfasts, exercise rooms and jacuzzis. Need to do a better job of making their guests feel welcome.

We felt our stay was well worth the money. We loved the view from our room and it was spacious (we got an extra large ocean view room). The beach is just down a few flights of stairs. We saw crabs, anonomes, star fish and more in the tide pools just below the hotel. We have 2 small children and the the shallow pool was perfect for us. There are 2 indoor pools and one of them is only 3 feet deep. We would stay again- However, we've never stayed anywhere else in Newport.

Amazing how close to the ocean, and a good value as well. Allow dogs, which is nice, and it is still clean.
