What to expect: Situated by the C&O Canal and located on bustling M Street (but set back for privacy), the Latham is a world of updated Colonial elegance that reflects the area's historical architecture mingled with updated technology and fine dining. Amenity highlights: Few hotel hallways invite lingering, but some of the Latham's guestrooms are located behind the doors of a quaint facade that mimics the brick-lined streets and historical townhouses of Georgetown's neighborhoods, making a stay here a fun experience. The Citronelle is truly a fine destination restaurant and worthy of its numerous awards and accolades for famed French chef Michel Richard—but don’t expect to get into dinner without a jacket. The Latham is also Georgetown's only hotel with an outdoor pool which features an entertaining area overlooking the C&O Canal. "Plush" is the word that comes to mind when encountering the executive rooms. Beds are piled high with luxury linens, down comforters, and plenty of extra pillows that are carefully coordinated with the updated French Colonial decor that features crisp gold and silver accents and a touch of marble in the bathroom. High-speed Internet access and cushy desk chairs and armchairs are standard, as are a fax machine and voice mail. Insider tip: If Georgetown is your destination, this is the place to stay. Shopping locales (from upscale brand names to funky little boutiques) and great pubs comprise the hotel's neighbors. Old Stone House, the oldest house in D.C., is just across the street. Easy access to both Dupont and Washington Circle is possible thanks to this location on the east end of M Street.
Citronelle - Located in the center of the hotel, Citronelle is the creation of award-winning chef Michel Richard. A glass-enclosed kitchen allows you to see the preparations of the culinary masterpieces that feature a combination of traditional French recipes with uniquely American influences. You always receive preferred reservations as a guest of the Latham. Room service is also available during limited hours.

| The location of the Latham could not be better if you are interested in upscale shopping and good restaurants. We were very disappointed in the room itself. We were placed in an ersatz "Early American Village" that was designed to hide the fact that we were in a basement with no windows. There was no one to check us in upon arrival, and then, after we roused someone, he had trouble in finding our reservation. The room was large, but the decorating was poorly done. The bathroom was MINUTE, but serviceable.

| This hotel is smack in the middle of M Street, the most happening section of Georgetown. There are convenient bus stops nearby to take you to other parts of DC and it's great for getting to and from the nightlife scene. An unbeatable location at a great price!

| I've stayed there 3 times. The place is generally pretty good -- classy, etc. But for a business traveler, the rooms in the lower floors have ZERO cell phone connectivity and ZERO Verizon aircard connectivity -- a disabling problem for guys like me. When I stayed on the 10th floor, it was great. I recently stayed on the 6th floor [the street level is the 4th]. Connectivity was spotty, the allegedly non-smoking room reeked of smoke, and there was no desk. I set up my laptop on a glass table 18" high and squatted. Also, the bathroom window had no drapes -- it was either shuttered or a peep show for the pedestrians across the street!!! The restaurant [Citronelle] is great, if you don't mind paying about $100 a plate. If you do, there is Madelaine's next door, or about a million tony to tawdry Georgetown bistros very close.

| The superb location and the cleanliness of the rooms are the attractions to this hotel. Period. Otherwise even bottled water is surcharged, as is the extremely overprized access to wireless Internet.

| While the hotel is ideally located on M Street in the heart of Georgetown, room was cramped and featured a noisy wallmount air conditioner which hummed throughout the night. Couldn't find TV remote but it was late and not worth calling the front desk about. Hotel should have provided more for the money.

| the Latham was a very nice hotel in the heart of Georgetown. We were conveniently located to the best shopping and restaurants. A DC Trolley stop was just down the steet and for 32.00 you can spend the day getting on and off at all the locations in downtown DC and Arlington. Bathroom was very small, but everything was very clean.

| Expensive, but only mediocre furnishings. In-room AC condenser makes loud noise when starting (every time the thermostat kicks in): enough to wake you up in the middle of the night. Shower volume & pressure is pitiful, and hot-cold control doesn't function adequately.
