Features
What to expect: Red-tile-roofed, mission-style buildings echo with good times at this rambling property nestled against a 17,000-acre nature preserve. Families enjoy the giant, six-acre Oasis water park. Active couples like the proximity to South Mountain with its 60 miles of trails. Groups appreciate the 640 suites, Phantom Horse Golf Club, and extensive meeting facilities.

Amenity highlights: The Oasis water park made a big splash when it opened, with its slides (one is eight stories tall), float river, and wave pool. (Note: Hours of operation are subject to change, based on season, weekday, or weather.) Also on-site is the 18-hole Phantom Horse golf course that ends in an island green. A computer-aided golf trainer helps duffers perfect their swings. The Phantom Horse Spa offers facials, massages, and manicures, and it's a short walk to fascinating hikes on South Mountain.

Insider tip: Guests can take the complimentary hotel shuttle to Arizona Mills Mall. Its one million square feet includes outlet stores, an IMAX theater, and themed restaurants.

Phantom Horse Grill - Dining is indoors, or outdoors on a patio lit by torches, overlooking the golf course. Southwestern spices such as cumin and chili enliven chicken, pork, steaks, and salads. Coconut chili-crusted halibut and half-roasted chicken are popular dishes. Wood-beam ceilings, paintings of horses, and decorative chili wall hangings give the interior regional flair. Open Monday through Saturday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Sunday for brunch and dinner only.

Latitude 30° - This restaurant reflects the eclectic influences of the Pacific Coast with indigenous seafood, farm-raised meats and garden-fresh produce prepared using Asian cooking techniques. Dishes are infused with herbs and spices influenced by Californian and Asian cultures found along the latitude 30° route. Interior walls, featuring large mahogany-wood accents, have been softened with contemporary fabric panels, which are decorated with bold colors and patterns. Live music Friday and Saturday evenings.

Aunt Chilada's - A Valley favorite, this Mexican-style cantina serves lunch and dinner every day. Homemade tamales, smoked pork tomatillo, and chicken, shrimp, or beef fajitas highlight a menu of Mexican classics and innovative original dishes. The interior is decorated in colorful Mexican style, with dark-wood furniture and wood-beam ceilings.

Oasis Bar & Grill - Open every day during daylight hours, this poolside dining option at the water park offers a full bar and food such as chicken sandwiches, Italian grinders, hamburgers, chef salads, and nachos.

The Sports Bar - Next door to the Phantom Horse Grille, with three TVs and video games to deliver sports excitement. Popular beers and wines, mixed drinks, and bar food, including chicken wings and onion rings, are served every day.

Rustler's Rooste - Guests can swoop down a tin slide into the cowhand-styled interior. Western steakhouse cuisine is served every day. Mesquite-broiled steaks, pork chops, chicken, and chili highlight the menu.

La Cabana - Poolside dining and drinking. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and nachos are served every day during daylight hours.

We had a great time at this hotel. A couple of things you should be aware of: The hotel is large and you can get easily lost. The signs are not very good to direct you back to your room. The other thing is that the pool stays open until midnight or later. This was only a problem for us on the weekened as far as noice is concerned. We could here the people in the pool at night from our room which made it hard to sleep. We stayed one week and this was only a problem one or two nights. The Hotel has a great restuarant called The Rusty Rooste which was a lot of fun and great for kinds too. The view was beautiful from there and there was live music. About a block from thisd hotel is a great outlet mall and other fun restaurants like the Rain Forest Cafe, Claim Jumper, and Joe's Crab Shack. Stay away from the Waffle House, not a clean place, actually it's really gross in there. The waterpark is small but very nice. Note: there are no lockers at the waterpark. Do not take your valuables. The park has 3 waterslides, a wavepool, and a lazy river, that is it. The pool at the hotel is not too big and not that big. Also, the bathrooms are not right by the pool and kind of tricky to get too. If you know all this about the hotel before you go, you'll enjoy it even more. The rooms were great, very nice size and clean. We had a good time and it was a nice relaxing vacation.

I was really impressed with the rooms and service in this hotel. The hotel itself is a little older, but the staff really keeps it up. The waterpark was fun, but it isn't as big as I thought it would be. I appreciate the fact that a hotel in the desert has water coolers placed around the hotel with clean, cold water for its guests. The hotel had a lot of extras, and a lot of charm for a large hotel, without being pretentious. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely return.

We enjoyed this hotel because of the water park. Though it is overcrowded on weekends which can spoil the fun. The hotel itself was comfortable and ok. It's old and the shuttle service is a bit slow but isn't it nice that it's offerred. Pool staff need to do a better job cleaning up towels, etc. We enjoyed our stay and would go back.

This resort was absolutely wonderful! The rooms were clean and the service was outstanding. Extremely kid friendly. Asked for a room on the first floor and were accommodated. Have breakfast at the Denny's right across the street -- cheap and good. The food at the Oasis was also very good -- loved their shakes. Would definitely go back!

This hotel is a very good value for the money in the off season. Great pool and water park for the kids. About the only complaint I have is that the room decor is a bit dated and we got one of the rooms with an attached conference room. It would have been great if we were entertaining 10 people.

Wish we could have stayed longer. So much to do in and around the hotel. Golf, water slides, many beautiful restaurants. Next time, we'll have to plan a longer stay.
