Metropolitan Hotel Amenities
Top-notch service prevails at this stylish yet unassuming 18-story hotel in the center of Vancouver's business district. A fitness center, pool, spa, and sauna provide respite from the busy city, and the single hotel entrance is a security feature. A business center offers a computer workstation with high-speed Internet access (for a fee) and office services. However, the hotel also offers wireless Internet access in all public areas and restaurants, and guestrooms have high-speed (broadband) Internet access as well. Valet parking: $25 per 24-hour period. Self parking: $25 per 24-hour period. Fees do not include tax and are subject to change without prior notification.

Recreation
In addition to its own health and recreation facilities, which include a fitness center and a 40-foot indoor pool and spa, hotel staff can arrange excursions to some of the region's finest golf courses, including Westwood Plateau and Furry Creek on the Sea to Sky Highway. Guests can practice their putts on the hotel's three-hole outdoor putting green, and the concierge can arrange for bike rentals. The start of the Vancouver seawall, a 12-mile paved pedestrian pathway, is 4 blocks from the hotel. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

Features
What to expect: Built under the guidance of a Feng Shui master—Foo dogs guard the entrance—the 18-story Metropolitan is an intimate hotel with a keen interest in privacy and security, much appreciated by business and film industry guests. Families like the kid-friendly attitude that includes delivery of milk and cookies to guestrooms. Pets are also welcome here. Amenity highlights: A 40-foot atrium pool with spa and lounge chairs on the west side of the hotel captures Vancouver's lingering afternoon light. The poolside fitness center has free weights, weight machines, cardio equipment, and sauna. Guests can even work on their golf game—a terrace putting green comes with balls, putters, and a ball washer. For relaxation, in-room massages are available by appointment. Insider tip: Pacific Centre Mall, located across the street, has 150 shops to explore, including two major Canadian department stores, Sears and the Bay, Canada's oldest retail establishment. The mall also has a Tourist Tax Refund Centre, where foreign visitors can get tax rebates for goods and services purchased in Canada.
Diva at the Met - The hotel's award-winning restaurant has a 600-entry wine list. Open for three meals a day, it specializes in contemporary Canadian cuisine using fresh, seasonal regional ingredients. Longtime menu favorites include wild sockeye salmon, smoked Alaskan sablefish, and cinnamon-smoked duck. Decor is elegant—marble and original art abound—but guests are welcome to come as they are.

| I've stayed at other Vancouver hotels before, but I've never had such a gorgeously designed room with the most exquistely soft sheets and bedding. Amazing.

| In the heart of the city. Many restaurants, shops, cruise ship pier and beautiful architecture in the area. Could have stayed a lot longer.

| We arrived late and were given room 403. We heard a mechanical noise and called downstairs. They never sent anyone up and said they didn't know what it was. It woke us up at 5am. Traffic noise was bad, too. Front desk said it was their service elevator. Obviously they knew the night before. They switched our room in the morning. When came back a few nights later and were not given the executive suite they had marked us down for because of our inconvenience. The spa and pool have steep or no steps, very dangerous. No bellboy service and valet was slow. Parking was a fortune and we noticed door dings and scratches constantly.

| Excellent, comfortable room and bed. Great location. Fine business center and better than decent exercise/work out facilities. The Diva restaurant on site is quite fine.

| I spent just one night in the hotel and was very pleased with the location and being able to walk to Chinatown and Gastown in no time. But was not real pleased with the hotel itself. My room carpet was dirty and has seen better days, my room phone did not work so I had to go out in the hallway to call them about the On Command TV not working. They never did get the phone or TV to work, never offered to move us, and never offered to lower the price of the room. The worst part was when I got back home and only three days later I am getting unsolicited messages on my phone about Metro and Whistler and other areas in Canada. This alone makes this one of the worst hotels I have evr stayed.

| When I pulled up to Metropolian and the valet started pulling my bags out, I saw that it was a nice hotel and wondered if they would with me going through the lobby with my two mountain bikes and 50-pound chocolate lab. As it turned out, they were super cool about all of it and were very helpful. Their hotel bar was well above average for a hotel bar. The hotel is located well for exploring the Robson Street area; the core shopping areas are all walkable, and even Stanley Park is in range for a motivated walker.
