Features
What to expect: The glittering, white terra cotta–and-glass exterior opens to a small, two-story lobby where vacationers and business travelers enjoy a fireplace, mohair chairs, and chocolate brown–leather chairs with leopard-print backs. Coffee table books of Chicago offer browsing appeal. Architectural artifacts from the historic building are mounted in shelves next to books, and framed posters tell the story of the building's past, renovation, and present. A hand-painted, two-story mural recalls the romance of Chicago's 1893 Columbian Exposition. Thick mahogany columns soar dramatically, and in front of iron-gated elevators is a re-creation of the original mosaic-marble floor. Amenity highlights: Each morning, the hotel offers complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby. A complimentary wine reception from 5–6 PM is crowded with business travelers ending a workday and theater-goers on their way out. Guests can customize their comfort with a pillow library, offering 10 options including buckwheat, full body, and neckbrace pillows. Pets of any size are equally pampered with snacks, food dishes, toys, and special bedding. Staff are also happy to take dogs on walks and offer resources for grooming. Insider tip: Half-price day-of-performance theater tickets may be purchased at the Hot Tix booth in the Chicago Cultural Center, just two blocks east of the hotel.
Atwood Cafe - This lobby restaurant is popular with locals as well as guests for lavish breakfasts and pre-theater dining. Red-velvet couches, beaded chandeliers, and crimson walls highlight the dramatic decor. The menu changes every two months and offers contemporary American comfort food, always including a pot pie of the day for both lunch and dinner.

| There aren't enough words to describe this hotel. Everyone and everything was just outstanding. If you needed something they would bring it to you within five minutes. Food was great, personal was outstanding, and beds were very confortable, not hard as a rock like most. Will stay there when we return.

| The Kimpton hotels know how to treat you right! From the intimacy and interest of this classic property to the overall friendliness and stellar service provided by everyone we came in contact with, this stay was a pleasure all the way. The location is perfect---within walking distance of theaters, shopping and Millenium Park. The train provides a quick transport around the city and to and from the airport.

| Nice smaller hotel. Did not offer a King sized bed which was a small setback. Elevator service was the most annoying...only two and they were routinely "full" a check out time, making it virtually impossible to use from the third floor.

| I was very impressed with this hotel. The service was great and the room was very nice. We called the front desk several times for directions to different places and they immediately called us back with the directions for wherever we wanted to go. This hotel had a very quaint feel to it, which was exactly what I wanted for a romantic getaway over Christmas.

| Great location with the friendliest and most helpful staff I've seen. Good restaurant and bar in hotel. Bathrooms small but well done. I had a problem checking in but it was resolved in a quick and efficient manner.

| Little pricy, but very comfortable, staff was outstanding in service and friendliness. Restuarant was small and the bar closed too early (11:00pm).

| My wife and I stayed at the Burnham for our anniversary. The staff was extremely courteous and respectful, but I expected that from a hotel in this price range. The rooms were very nice, but a tad small. When we returned from dinner, the beds were turned down, and they had soft music playing. It was a real hit and I was an automatic hero. The breakfast we had was expensive, but very good (don't forget to order something to take advantage of their excellent homemade Jam). Pricey, but worth it.
