Features
What to expect: With 1,310 rooms, the Marriott is one of this city's largest hotels. Generally flush with conference attendees, on a given weekend it contains seemingly half the nation's human-resource coordinators or American-studies professors. It has the sort of vast, football-field-size lobby—a slightly raised bar-lounge surrounded by a wide walkway with chairs—where cell phones are essential tools for meeting up.

Amenity highlights: The hotel's 80,000 square feet of conference and banquet space make its value clear to business travelers and event planners, whom it also entices with high-speed Internet access (fee). But a pair of outdoor pools, one each for adults and children in the fifth-floor valley created by the hotel's two towers, plus a fitness center and a host of bars and restaurants, also appeal to vacationers.

Insider tip: The Marriott's 41st-floor Riverview restaurant provides a sweeping view of the twists and turns in the Mississippi that gave New Orleans the nickname "The Crescent City." Clearly visible across that river is Algiers, a city almost as old as New Orleans.

Riverview - This 41st-floor gourmet restaurant with a 270-degree view of the city and the Mississippi River specializes in regional fare (gumbo, French-influenced cuisine). It's open daily for dinner and offers a popular Sunday brunch.

Cafe du Marche - The hotel's ground-floor casual restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and features sandwiches and popular local foods, such as gumbo and jambalaya.

Gazebo - This small outdoor bar on the fifth floor caters to guests using the hotel's pools. Hours vary and no food is served, but a phone is available for ordering poolside room service.

Lobby Bar - At the center of the hotel's enormous lobby is a raised and carpeted platform with a full bar and various seating areas with couches and cushioned chairs. The seating area is always open but the bar's hours vary; generally drinks are served until midnight.

Busy hotel in pretty good location(you're in the french quarter!) You know what your getting when you stay at a Marriott and this hotel holds up to the standard; clean, quality rooms, and freindly service. Overall pretty good if you don't mind the crowds.

The hotel staff was courteous, and the beds are VERY comfy. We had a few issues. The toilet had a tendancy to keep running, and the tub drained very slowly. I'd also like to see a safe in the room, but overall I was very pleased.

My stay was as well as could be expected, but the bed was horrible. I couldn't sleep very, kept waking up every 20-30 minutes, and had a sore back for the next couple of days. Still, the room was clean and it was smoker friendly, which seems to be a rariety these days.

I would recommend this hotel. We were treated courteouslyand the staff was very gracious. They noticed we were travelling with our 2 teenage sons & suggested we take a corner room as to give them more room. The extra bonus was that we enjoyed large windows that overlooked the ever changing Mississippi River which entertained us all and we also had a pool side view. The hotel was located very conveniently near the French Quarter which we enjoyed.

I've always wanted to stay at this hotel, but my impression of the hotel has changed after my New Years Eve 2004 stay. -- The room was small-- The room smelled bad-- It took about an hour to get my car when checking out-- The only good thing was the bed. The bed was VERY comfortable.
