| Great location and beach alone doesn't make for a good vacation. If you going here- bring tons of cash in American dollars, your own watersports gear (theirs always out or NA), thorough knowledge of Sands Resort's services (staff isn't going to tell you about any), and a willingness to travel by either Gecko Van($), cab($$), or car rental($$$). We ran out of cash, so daily walks in the surf were to other resorts (which had watersports equipt. available) and rental stands on the beach that advertised credit card acceptance, but always had a problem when trying to use. Excursion desk at Sands tried to tack on $15 pp charge for Snorkel Tour! Staff's most used answer is NO, followed by WAIT, never rec'd. a yes in 8 day stay- always seemed to be a burden to their important relaxed posture. Never again for us.

| We had a really pleasant stay at The Sands. The beach is beautiful and quiet and the staff is friendly. We were pretty disappointed with our suite, however. The suite is really compact and there was no privacy due to the setup. We had to keep our curtains closed at all times so passersby wouldn't see in. The bed was so close to the window that unless we kept our drapes entirely closed (leaving us in total darkness whenever we were inside) anyone could see inside. Granted, you're not in your room much, but we had to keep the curtains closed at night so you woke to total darkness lest passersby see you in bed! Sheer curtains would be a simple solution to this problem - I hope management takes note. We gave the resort overall a good rating because the beach at Grace Bay is stunning, the resort was calm, not overcrowded at all, and the food at Hemingways was good.

| We stayed for 9 days 8 nights and were very satisfied. The staff was very freindly and helpful. Hemmingways was excellent and they also had great entertainment. The cleaning staff was a little screwy regarding how many towels they would leave on a daily basis and their consistancy but were very freindly. A word of caution regarding food prices, the food is excellent everywhere we went but was a good 33% higher then in the states. We would go to the local IGA which was well stocked but again very pricey. (i.e. Beer which was around 45.00 a case for standard brew, milk - 6.99/gal). Watch out for the car rental places, they have junk at premium prices and the taxes will end up costing you double then in the states. But having a car is nice too. The locals are great, never met a mean person or get flipped off because I was driving like a schmuck on the left handed british type of driving. The Sands dive shop is connected to Dive Caicos, which is run by a great staff. I would recommend them for any dive/snorkel opportunities. Make sure you go down the beach to coral Gardens with your snorkel gear, it is free and as good as anywhere on a tour. We would go again in a heartbeat

| The staff was extreemely helpful with everything we needed. If we ever had a problem they would work with us and help us. The rooms were very spacious and since accompanied by a full kitchen and washing machine were great. The bathtub was somewhat small in the 1 Bedroom Oceanview Suite but it served its purpose. The cleaning people were very kind but did not change the bedding everyday. One of the only eyesores was the Spa. We never really saw it. We contacted them four times in our week there and they did not contact us until the last day. The lady who runs it appeared surprised and was courteous but was unable to help. They were able to be contacted by Voicemail only and the one time we did contact someone personally the message was not relayed. Another problem we faced was a lack of equipment for snorkeling. Once all the equipment was picked up in the morning it was not returned until later in the day. Buy your own. We found a conch shell just 20 feet off the shore and kept swimming into our local barracuda. Hemingway's Restaurant was pretty good but overpriced like everything else on the island. (Min $10 for entree) The guests appeared mostly American but also from other European Nations. Guests were of various life stages from newlyweds to families. We found that all-inclusive locations drew more families.

| Hotel is well maintained. Our room was small but clean and comfortable. You do not spent a lot of time in the room so it suited our purpose. Staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Food at Hemmingway onsite was very good. We would definitely recommend the hotel.

| Grounds well kept, swimming pools cloudy and dirty, local phone calls from the room expensive, housekeeping inconsistent - wash cloths, towels, toilet paper, shampoo, and bottled water not regularly replenished, toilets clogged daily - which is apparently not unanticipated because a plunger is in every bathroom, easy to use room safes, nothing to see snorkeling on the beach in front of hotel - must walk 25 minutes to good snorkeling area, free Hobie Cat use, Hemingway's food is excellent with a childrens menu and not unreasonably priced, most hotel staff nice but have a low work ethic. Room rate value was not there given the above deficiencies.

| We were pretty disappointed in the "Ocean View" as the view was pretty far away from the water. The size and privacy of the unit made up for it, and since they were booked we had to live with it. Front desk and housekeeping were friendly but not as helpful as we would have hoped regarding activities, transportation, etc. General lack/poor communication. The pool area is very nicely done, and well maintained. Hemingways was pretty good, but staff not very friendly.

| The Sands at Grace Bay was a wonderful place to stay in Turks and Caicos. Our stretch of beach was unmatched. The service was of course, on island time, but good, and the rooms and grounds were immaculate. The resort is close enough to a small "downtown area" to walk when you need to get away. If you feel like staying beachside but want to venture out, it is a short walk to other resorts nearby. All in all the Sands offered everything we wanted and more.

| We spent 10 days at The Sands on our honeymoon and were very satisfied with our stay. The staff was friendly and courteous. Our suite was very confortable and well appointed. When we did not have our meals in the suite, the food at Hemingway's Restaurant was very good. Best off all we spend many wonderful days on the georgeous beach or just lounging around the many pools.

| My wife and I spent our honeymoon at The Sands and were very pleased with the hotel. The service was very good, and our room was everything we needed. They even washed our dirty dishes that we used from the kitchen every day. The beach is great, and we recommend visiting sooner than later. There are several new resorts currently being built, so the small island atmosphere will be gone in about two years. Another plus was the small convenience store located on site. With cab fare being $16 round-trip to the grocery store, it was nice to get essentials right there. Our only disappointment at The Sands was Hemmingway's, the restaurant. The food is very good, but the service was poor. They have too many staff walking around doing nothing, and getting a table in the evening is a huge hassle, even with a reservation. We spoke to many other guests that agreed with us. They were stuck-up and not friendly at all. If you can get beyond that, the food there is outstanding.
