Features
What to expect: The Capital Hilton’s austere exterior contrasts with its warm interior, where mahogany pillars and richly patterned carpets in crimson, green, and brown invite guests to linger and relax in the lobby’s plush atmosphere. Working guests appreciate the business center’s many services, and families on holiday take advantage of child-care service and a “Vacation Station” program that greets children with a welcome gift and lends out age-appropriate toys and games. Amenity highlights: About half the guestrooms feature high-speed Internet access. The hotel’s health club and spa includes an aerobics and spinning (group stationary cycling) studio in addition to the usual exercise equipment—and offers an almost decadent range of massages, facials, and other treatments. Insider tip: With so many attractions to see, walking Washington’s wide-open spaces can be hard on the feet. Trolley bus tours collect passengers in front of the Capital Hilton for a loop tour that includes major sights, such as the U.S. Capitol, several stops on the Mall, Georgetown, and even Arlington National Cemetery. Passengers can get off where they wish and board the next bus when they’re ready to move on. The hotel concierge has more information.
Twigs - This restaurant serves American cuisine with an emphasis on seafood in a casually stylish dining room. The gold-and-white decor glows with light from large windows, a partial glass atrium, and many small ceiling lamps whose wavy shades suggest falling sheets of paper. Twigs is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Fran O’Brien’s - Down a flight of stairs from the lobby level, this sports bar and steakhouse offers a relaxed, slightly old-fashioned atmosphere for lunch or dinner. Founded by a former Washington Redskins player and now operated by his son, the establishment displays an extensive collection of vintage Redskins photographs and signed testimonials on the walls. Several televisions show sporting events. Lobby bar – Even though it’s open to the lobby, this lounge maintains a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Photographs of literary figures such as Gore Vidal and W.H. Auden gaze down on patrons enjoying a cocktail or light meal on low-slung, Art-Deco-style furniture.

| Has a very nice fitness center and spa; wish I could have used it more. Room was very spacious and overall nice, but bathtub didn't drain well and vanity area was small. Comfy bed. Excellent location 2 blocks from Metro.

| This hotel was ok. The service was kind of slow and they didn't pay very much attention to detail. The food was wildly expensive and not good at all. But none the less, we were very unimpressed. The only good thing is that they are close to the local attractions.

| From the doorman to the housekeeper, a courteous send-off was given as we departed and a courteous welcome awaited us each day as we returned. The people were friendly and eager to assist. We would certainly stay at this hotel again. It was convenient to where we needed to be.

| Perfect location for family tour - walking distance from White house. The restrant in the hotel was large, quiet, and has tasty food. Yet it is very reasonable price. Spa (also in the hotel) is so relaxing...

| The hotel service was minimal. The mini bar was missing from the room, although the hotel did provide a list of prices for the things that should have been in the mini bar. The shower head was clogged and sprayed all over the place. These are not problems I'd expect at this price.

| My husband and I stayed at the Capitol Hilton for a quick weekend getaway. It was close to the Metro, walking distance to the Monuments, and the downtown area is home to great restaurants (try Equinox!) Only two downers - First, the walls are VERY THIN. We could hear almost every word that our neighbors were saying (granted they were saying them loudly) and the noise coming from the hallway is remarkable. Second, the drinks at the bar are ridiculously overpriced. Granted, you are in DC, but $6 for a beer? Be wary! Also, the Fran O'Briens is nothing special. In fact, we thought it was a dump. The bathroom was great. The room was great and we had a great weekend!

| I had a very pleasant stay at the Capitol Hilton and all the services I used were excellent. Most important to me is that it was within two blocks of the Metro and in a good area that I felt confortable walking in.
