| The hotel was clean, the staff was polite, and the location couldn't have been much better. My room and the bathroom down the hall, as other reviews have mentioned, were immaculate. But I wore flip-flops nonetheless. It seemed like there was a bathroom for every four or five rooms, some of which were probably empty, so I never had to wait to use one of them. The bed was a little firm, but I slept okay. The air conditioning was adequate, which is important for summer travel in NYC. I would recommend leaving a couple bucks in the envelope for the cleaning staff, which will probably ensure a ready supply of towels. I didn't feel uncomfortable leaving my belongings in the room during the day, which was my chief concern. In the end, though, I would probably stay in a better hotel if it were available.

| 4 blocks north of the Empire State Building, with a Crunch gym AND a NYSC less then a block west on the same street! I never had to wait to share the bathroom, and the maid was very thorough with her cleaning. Tip well. The only comment I would make is that they put me in a smoking room, but I asked for non-smoking. Still, it was a New York City experience.

| Stayed at the Americana in mid-May and was concerned about the shared bathroom situation. It wasn't a problem at all - several bathrooms per floor, kept quite clean. Be sure to bring an extra towel or keep reminding the hotel staff to replenish in your room, we kept running low. Great location near Bryant Park, convenient to subway and short walk to theatre district. Small rooms, but you shouldn't spend much time in a NYC hotel anyway - there's a city to see.

| This hotel was a good value and in a convenient location to shopping and other Manhattan sites. The room was very clean. There was a fair amount of street noise but I wore earplugs at night and was able to sleep. The room was hot, but there was a window unit air conditioner/fan, but it was quite loud. The bathrooms were clean. A minor annoyance was that the entrance to the hotel is a small ground floor and a small elevator that stops at the lobby area on the second floor each trip up and down.

| Good price and great location,(about 4 blocks from Time Square). The rooms are small, bathrooms are shared (there's a sink in your room) and decor is minimal, but if you're in NYC, you're not spending much time in the room except to sleep. Bring earplugs, the streets/traffic can get pretty noisy even in the middle of the night.

| Room was clean, beds are small but comfortable, bathrooms (although shared) clean -hot water available-. Kitchenette smelled like cajun food, but was OK. The Cable TV didn't work! Would I stay there again? Of course!

| Hotel is good, but don't take single bedroom: they are very small, smell really bad and no fresh air. You may not enjoy your stay. so if you choose to stay here, take double room, even if you are by yourself. Also internet is paid, but if you are carrying a laptop with wireless, you may get access to some unsecured network.

| The place is in good location. Easy access to everything. Cheap but clean. Subway is two to four blocks. Just a note the heater is centralize so it get quite hot in the room but just open the window a bit and it will solve the issue. The bathrooms are very clean, well stocked and attended. It is a big suprise to me considering it is a share bath. I will stay again when I return this summer.

| I went to clubs and concerts at night and museums all day so I was pleased with this hotel. It was very clean, smelled good and was very warm as it was freezing outside. I'm 25 years old and don't believe in spending a lot of money on a hotel as when you travel, you are supposed to be out Traveling and experiencing your destination so this was ideal for me. This is not a luxury hotel but is clean and safe. Location- Excellent. They also let me check in at 1pm and there was bag storage for when I checked out and spent the entire day.
