| Recently completing a three-year $35 million restoration, The Driskill has been Austin's most celebrated hotel for over a century. Built in Romanesque style the Driskill is proudly and majestically located in the heart of Austin's business and entertainment district. Each of the 205 guest rooms and suites are decorated in turn-of-the-century Victorian design. The elaborate lobby features an intricate hand laid marble floor, a beautiful hand painted decorative ceiling, original artwork and a custon made stained glass dome that proudly serves as the focal point of the majestic lobby. A luxury hotel, The Driskill is a world unto itself, a world which transcends time and place. Lovingly transformed into something far more enticing, the Driskill has become a private haven of opulence and comfort. It now stands apart as a landmark of refined hospitality with a rich appreciation of the past and an elegant vision for the future.

| The Historic Wing has beautifully coordinating drapes, linens and furnishings. Our simple single queen bed room was absolutely lovely. The bathroom was most beautiful in smooth black marble, and the toiletries were floral-scented. Room service was prompt, and whenever we had to call downstairs for a question, we were greeted by name.

| Lobby and common areas are amazing!!! Rooms are outdated, dirty, and very uncomfortable. Room service menu is limited on a Sunday night, and the food quality was very poor.

| I felt like a 19th century cattle baroness staying at the Driskill. Everything was well-appointed, staff were highly trained in how to serve. My only complaint was that the breakfast service was slow and we were in a hurry. The room was elegant and spacious, as was the bath. Next time I hope to stay in the "old" part, as we were in the newer section. I highly recommend the Driskill!

| The Driskill is impressive with its ornate lobby and beautifully decorated rooms. My bed was turned down with a nice terry robe laid across it. A nice touch was the printed note with the next day's weather forecast for Austin and the Cowboy's Prayer written by Roy Rogers. Only drawback on this stay was that The Grill is not open on Sunday and Monday nights. I only learned this after the desk man sent me there and the bartender in the lounge informed me it had been closed on those nights "for years". I had to settle for dinner in the cafe which offered sandwiches and meat loaf, along with grilled tuna which I enjoyed with a salad. Definitely not the ambience I was looking for, but a decent dinner. I'd definitely like to try The Grill on my next visit. Location is convenient downtown.

| We came into Austin for business, but The Driskill historics charm and perfect location made it seam more like pleasure. We were able to easily walk through the streets of Austin, experience the night life and come back to relax in a hotel truly symbolizes Texas.

| The Driskill Hotel was an extraordinary place to rest our heads at night. The accomadations were second to none. Our room was beautifully appointed and the staff was available or not available if that were the case. They saw to every detail yet they were invisible. A small problem we discovered was immediately taken care of. On site is both casual and formal dining and the hotel lived up to its reputation. The Driskill is centrally located to 6th St and the entertainment district and only on occasion did we require additional transportation. Great place to stay. I would certainly book this hotel if my travels took me to Austin.

| Rooms are small, baths are smaller. Even with the upgrade, its small. Matter of fact I wouldn't do the deluxe, since I don't see how the bath could have been smaller. But It is a LOVELY hotel. The restaurant is wonderful, and bakery is a WOW. It's nice to stay somewhere different. Great History too!

| The Hotel is right in downtown, perfect location. The hotel has alot of character. Very old 1800's but modern as well. If your going to Austin this is the hotel to stay at. I've been to Austin 3 times 3 different hotels. By far this was the best.
