I have been visiting the Mauna Lani Hotel since I was 14 yrs old, and the in the last 10 years the hotel has managed to maintain it's beautiful grounds and outstanding service. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. Room service is extremely high priced, so I would reccommend stocking up on snacks to have in the room. I would vote the Mauna Lani no. 1 out of all the resorts on the Big Island.

Overall, we really liked the hotel. We have stayed at other hotels on the Kohala Coast before and this compares very favorably with them. We liked the relaxed feel the Mauna Lani had and really enjoyed the snorkling and golf. We ate dinner one night at the new Tommy Bahama restaurant and enjoyed it as well...good food and fun atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

Authentic Hawaiian feeling here: teak sliding doors, fish ponds everywhere, including lobby. The lobby is breathtaking: open to the elements with breezes, and fish ponds meandering throughout(see baby sea turtles). Checkin occurs at sofa where you are handed fresh guava/orange juice. First come first served complimentary cabanas at the beach. Very pleasant and relaxing.

This hotel was a fantastic place to honeymoon. Service was excellent. The facilities were spotless. The Breakfast Buffet included with the room was very well prepared and saveded time in the mornings when sitting down to order a meal would have taken away time from relaxaton or island adventures.

This is a very nice resort. The hotel room that we had was one of the least expensive ones there (I call it an "asphalt view" room) but even still it was much nicer than most places I have stayed. We had two beds (4 member family) in a rather large well-appointed room. We had a large balcony with views of the volcano and the local trees. The bathroom was sumptuous. The kids were disappointed that we had the smallest TV of all our co-travellers but that made no difference to me (although I must say, they had a point. Our TV was rather small and unimpressive for the size of the room we were in). While I was charmed to find geckos living in the halls other folks may not be. The resort has a lovely beach and large grounds to explore. The spa was truly a religious experience with outdoor massages available, and outdoor showers. The pool is rather small and plain compared to some other resorts we have been in but it sufficed and who cares when you have the beautiful clean warm ocean full of sea turtles a few steps away? Lots of free ocean toys made my kids happy, and the liberal distribution of frozen grapes on the beach and by the pool was welcome to all. The food is excellent if pricey. Service was excellent, from the polite room staff to the doormen who run to the parking lot to get your car. I recommend this place if you can afford it.

Fantastic hotel! All of the staff were friendly, courteous, and willing to help. Beautiful hotel and grounds. The atrium is a one of a kind!! Made for a very relaxing vacation. The only negative is that our room size was not as large as expected.

The Mauna Lani may not be the newest hotel nor the most lavish in town but the atmosphere and the service were outstanding. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and family.
