The Metolius River is restricted to catch and release only for all species. Lake Simtustus: Angling for 8 to 11 inch rainbow trout is fair. Lake Billy Chinook- the Cove Palisades State Park is central Oregon's year-round recreational destination for the entire family. Jefferson County is in the center of winter fun for cross-country and alpine skiers, snow boarders, snowmobiles, sledders and everyone who likes playing in the snow. Madras Bowl is located in the City of Madras and offers more than bowling. Two 18 hole golf courses are situated around the county, offering a variety of challenges for both beginner and expert. The courses are located at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation and Crooked River Ranch. There is also a driving range in Madras and a nine-hole course at Nine Peaks Golf Course. All are open to public play with reasonable green fees.
