New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel Amenities
The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel is located at the eastern end of Waikiki—technically outside of the city—on a quiet beach called Sans Souci, close to the base of Diamond Head volcanic crater. (It is said that author Robert Louis Stevenson used to frequent this area.) The hotel is across the street from popular Kapiolani Park and is within walking distance of Waikiki’s restaurants, shops, nightclubs, and sites. An open-sided lobby allows for a flow of fresh air, and there are two restaurants with ocean views. A small office contains two computer workstations with high-speed Internet for complimentary guest use.

    Recreation
The hotel sits right on quiet Sans Souci Beach, and overlooks Kapiolani Park, which spreads over 500 acres and offers a wide variety of recreational activities. One wing of the hotel houses the Hans Hedemann Surf School, where guests can learn about surfing and water safety. Those looking for more action and additional water sports can walk west on the beach to reach more populated areas. The hotel also sits at the base of Diamond Head, an extinct volcano. The activity desk in the hotel lobby offers a Diamond Head Climber’s Kit with instructions on how to get to the top of the mountain and receive a certificate of achievement.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

    Features
The Hau Tree Lanai Restaurant - This outdoor beachside restaurant is located on the lobby level of the hotel and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner under ancient Hau trees.

Miyako - This popular Japanese restaurant on the hotel’s second floor serves dinner only. It has an ocean view, kimono-clad waitresses, and tatami-rooms or Western-style seating. Miyako also offers a seasonal Kaiseki dinner every month; guests should be sure to reserve ahead.

Sunset Lanai Lounge - This casual cocktail lounge is located on the lobby level just above the Hau Tree Lanai Restaurant, and has a partial view of the ocean. Open afternoons and evenings.

Scoop Du Jour - Located by the hotel’s front entrance, this is an informal spot to pick up a sandwich, snack, or dessert for a seaside picnic. Open days until 4 PM.

I have been to this hotel several times in the past while traveling alone. I have always had a great time. I took my fiance this time for her first visit to the islands and she enjoyed the experience that much more because of our location. this is a smaller "boutique" hotel about a 1/2 mile from waikiki beach. it is a lot more quiet and serene than most of the other hotels ( I have stayed at 6 other hotels over the years). the beach ( kaimana) right at the foot of the hotel is great. On our final night we had room service ( filets) and sat on our balcony and had the best meal with the best view of our trip.

We just returned and wish we were still there...what a perfect location. The walk to Waikiki is the best part of the stay! So beautiful.

location was convenient, yet quiet, away from downtown area. Access to beach was easy as was walking to park areas. Parking was a bit expensive.

We enjoyed our stay. the beach was never crowded, our room always very clean - with orchids on our pillows. The 1st floor restaurant continuously had good food at fair pricing. We also had room service a couple of times - very quick and good.

First time I stayed - although I have known others who stay here routinely and enjoy it. I agree! Removed from the gratng buzz around Waikiki (although close enough to walk) it's a much more quiet hotel, with beautiful views, a very nice beachfront, snorkeling, etc. and a very nice setting for the hotel restuarant (a very romantic setting if that's what you are looking for) Rooms appear to have been renovated, and comfortable - no complaints at all.

I booked this hotel by the reviews I had read and the simple fact that it was on the beach and the price seemed fair. When we arrived we found ourselves in a room barely wider than a king bed and at the foot of the bed a narrow walkway and a counter at the wall. Since the closet was about 30 inches wide and there was only two small drawers we simply set our luggage up on the counter and lived out of our bags for a week! I must say though the place was clean. Let me know if you find the pool, I didn't see one any were. The staff seemed nice enough but didn't come off to accomodating and I had a hard time communicating with them. It just seemed like an impossible task for them to just give you directions? The valet parking guys were great though! (at 12.00 a day plus tip who wouldn't be I guess) One thing I didn't realise till I arrived was this hotel is about a 5 block walk from the main beach strip action. If there is a next time I would stay were the people and shops are. All in all I think the place was OK I just was taken back by the things I mentioned. Oh and I tried to get a bigger room but they said they were sold out?

The view was fine, room was clean, but that was about it. The pricey restaurant and bar closed way too early (including the room service), fitness center needed a reservation, lukewarm water, inconvenient business center, a small, small room with thin, thin, walls, without much amenities. If it weren't for that fancy restaurant, I don't think the hotel itself was impressive at all.

Hotel has ideal location--close to the action of Waikiki, yet far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet.
