| The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Desk staff was fairly helpful, though. I had to change rooms because the room we were originally assigned smelled like cat urine and the A/C didn't work. Another customer had to do the same thing because her daughter threw up upon entering the room. Our final room didn't smell *as* much like cat urine (still faintly), we found a small roach, but at least the A/C worked. As I mentioned before, the ONLY good thing about this place is the location. It was cheap for D.C. so that's why I chose it... My recommendation is to spend the extra cash and stay somewhere decent.

| The hotel rooms were only accessible from the outside. Not the best area of DC.

| The actual motel was quite comfortable, clean and quiet. However, it is about 1/2 mile from the nearest Metro (train) station, and the walk is not well-lit nor is it through a neighborhood that I felt comfortable walking through alone at night. The good news is that no one bothered me and I ended up being safe, but it was an added stress that I didn't like. Overall, I recommend the motel 8 if you are on a tight budget and want a decent place to stay.

| Arrived almost two hours before check-in time; no problem checking in early. Room even had a microwave and mini-fridge. Wendy's, McDonald's and Burger King all within a few blocks. A little noisy, between train tracks and busy New York Avenue, but after the first night I didn't notice it much. Walk to subway is along a highway and across an overpass, neighborhood rather rundown. I don't go out at night, but safety might be a concern if you did. Still, all things considered, the pluses outweighed the minuses for the money. All I insist upon is a clean room with sturdy locks, and this place had that. I'd stay here again.

| Inexpensive hotel close to Metro station. Needed paint, and walls were thin (noisy from other guests) I was trying to save on expenses and this was the right choice for that.

| We'll put it this way: the hotel was perfect b/c of the price and the proximity to the center of DC (only 5 min on metro), but the neighborhood was a bit shady, esp at night.

| We got a poor reception from the unfriendly staff, who didn't pay much attention. Leaving the bags after check out (or before check in) is not possible, although we were allowed to leave the car in the parking lot. This hotel is a cheap option fairly close to the city (although you must walk 10 min to the subway - walking all the way downtown is not an option). Ok if you're on a budget, but nothing fancy at all.
