The hotel itself was a little slipshod. They had no record of our reservation when we arrived, and the room was a little run down. Also they never seemed to have enough beach towels available. But the beach itself was very nice, and we usually had it nearly to ourselves. Also, the hotel's central location in Paget made it convenient to get to Hamilton or to either end of the island. The one other negative is that if you plan to use the buses, they are a pretty long walk from the hotel (at least a hilly half mile). If you rent a scooter or use the taxis, that isn't an issue.

Grape Bay is great for what it is - A small hotel with a great beach, (We had it all to ourselves)a great place to eat,(outside has a wonderful view of the ocean)a great location,(5 minutes from Hamilton amd located in a beautiful residential area)and the best tv channels I have ever experienced at a hotel anywhere (100 channels + 8 movie channels). In the past 15 years we had stayed in mega resorts all over the Carribean. All wonderful but we missed the feeling of really being there - Grape Bay made you feel like you were really on an island. The staff was not professional but helpful and very nice. It has a very personal at home feel to it. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The food was excellent. (no room service however) The beach was Great!!! A path leads you thru a tropical flower area down to the beach which was deserted. (we stayed there 4th of July weekend) Don't expect all the things you can get a big resort - expect the things you can't get!

The cheapest hotel I found on the island, but there's a reason for that. It's far removed from any activities and a good walk to the bus stop. If the attached restaurant isn't open, you won't find any food or alcohol nearby. Breakfast consisted of instant coffee, juice and several containers of molding pastries. Be prepared for additional 18-20% tax on the going rate and expensive cab rides. On the positive side, it was quiet and the beach (though a bit of a hike) is nice and uncrowded. If you're on a budget it may be your only choice.

After reading quite a few mostly negative but a few positive reviews, we decided to take a chance on this hotel based on its price (we paid only $155 over spring break '06). Turns out we were more than pleased with our gamble. Okay, the hotel is not high-end, but it met all of our needs, and then more. The free breakfast and free Internet (next to a fabulous ocean view!!) is the immediate competitive advantage. The hotel itself is well maintained and quaint to us. One main concern for other reviewers was the 'long' walk to the bus stop, but we found it quite pleasant and a non-issue! In fact, the location of the hotel is highly recommended if you would like easy access to Hamilton for restaurants and bus transfers etc.; the hotel is on more than one bus routes, very convenient as opposed to being on just one bus route, since they run on different schedules.

Enjoyed our stay. Very friendly, helpful staff. Excellent Italian restaurant on site. Continental breakfast every morning included in room rate. Reasonably short walk to a grocery store. 2 Km from Hamilton. About quarter mile walk to bus stop. Would go back"

We were there for a brisk weekend in April to attend a wedding. The staff was very nice and polite, the common areas pleasant, and wireless internet was a big plus. The rooms were fine, not spectacular, the bed was comfy, and we enjoyed the balcony. Having visited some of the other hotels during our stay, Grape Bay didn't approach their glamour, but nor did their prices. The continental breakfast did leave something to be desired. Otherwise, a fine stay.

Perhaps this hotel would be a good place to stay in during the in-season. However, it leaves a lot to be desired in the off-season months. We stayed from January 6 through the 10th. We were the only guests they had, so both a bar and a restaurant were closed for the season, which we were not aware of. So, we had to take a taxi to the restaurants for lunch and dinner. While we expected to go out for dinner, it was somewhat inconvenient to do so for lunch and come back to the hotel to go back to the pool. They, also, had some problems with the water pressure pump. The water would stop comming while we were shampooing and we needed to wait for 20 minuts to rinse the soap off.
