| The Hotel des Colonies is in a good location. A few minutes walk from the Gare du Nord (North train station, Brussels) and 10 minute walk from Grand Place. They are in the process of rennovating the hotel and from what we saw it will be an even nicer place to stay in the future. The staff was very professional, friendly and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was very good, and plenty to satisfy any appetite. Very good value as well as clean comfortable and convenient.

| My daughter and I stayed at this hotel in the middle of winter, so the unattractive exterior might have had something to do with cold, damp weather. The outside is grim, and the lobby very old-fashioned. Once inside however, the staff was welcoming and friendly. The room was initially cold and lit by a low-wattage overhead light, but additional lights, when turned on, brightened the room up a bit, and the heat came up by nightfall and stayed up for the several days we were there. The beds were clean and comfortable. The room was also quiet-it was on a large inner lightshaft. The bathroom was large, clean, but somewhat old-fashioned (a movable shower head allowed water to spray everywhere for persons unaccustomed to this appliance). The breakfast was ample and varied. The hotel is located very near a major shopping street, metro hub and the Grand' Place.

| Nice and clean hotel, rooms are remodeled! located in a walking distance from major city attractions and main shopping area. Plenty of restaurants to eat out. Close to North station from which in 15 minutes you can get to the airport. Great bargain hotel! good breakfast selection. i was pleased and 100% satisfied. It deserved its 3 stars!!!!

| My wife and I are traveling Europe for 6 months and have stayed at hotels all over Europe. This one was very mediocre. The positives is that it is within walking distance (3 blocks or so) from the train station and across the street from a metro station. There is also a grocery store and numerous restaurants and other hotels nearby. Breakfast is included but is average at best. The lobby area is a bit dreary as the rooms are as well. The staff are fairly friendly and pretty helpful. I would recommend staying here, but don't expect much.
