This hotel in the desirable Barrio Norte district is five blocks from the Cementerio de la Recoleta, an elaborate necropolis dating from 1822. The cemetery is the final resting place for numerous national leaders—most notably Eva Perόn, better known as Evita. Avenida Alvear, lined with shops selling antiques and designer fashions, is 0.5 km (0.3 mi) from the hotel. Amenities at the 43-room hotel include a restaurant, a meeting and banquet room for up to 40 people, and a computer with dial-up Internet access and a printer (surcharge).

Features
What to expect: This boutique hotel is a haven from busy Avenida Pueyrredón. The lobby is decorated with an eclectic mix of furnishings, variously suggestive of Africa, China, and Italy. A chandelier with flickering lights, a piano, statuary, gilded mirrors, and objets d'art enhance the appeal. Restaurant Papillon and the hotel's function space are beyond the lobby. Guests tend to be South American and European businesspeople.
Amenity highlights: Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Restaurant Papillon specializes in Argentine and international cuisine. The multilingual reception staff, available around the clock, can provide many concierge and business services.
Insider tip: Most visitors to Buenos Aires know of the cemetery at Recoleta, but almost as impressive is the church of Nuestra Señora de Pilar, which flanks the cemetery's main entrance on Junín. Built in 1732 in the Spanish baroque style, the church is now a national historic monument. Visitors should not miss it before paying respects at Evita's tomb.
Restaurant Papillon - Offering a casual ambience, this restaurant serves all meals, with Argentine and international specialties at dinner. A large palo borracho tree grows in the restaurant—and right through the roof.

| The hotel is a very old building, rooms are pretty small, and the one that we stayed on smells very bad. The cleanliness of our room was less than acceptable. The staff of the hotel was friendly and willing to go "the extra mile" in order to make our stay ok. Another thing is the fact that the hotel has only one elevator, waiting for more than 20 minutes (yes, minutes) in order to be able to catch one.

| The hotel was nice, the service was great. The continental breakfast was wonderful. On the downside, The elevators seem to have constant maintenance issues. And according to the staff, even with paying the outrageous prices for laundry service in house, they "Can't gaurantee it will be ready in 24 hours". Take it elsewhere.

| The Kempinski Park Plaza Elegance is located in an upper-middle class neighborhood of Buenos Aires - within easy walking distance of the Subterraneo (the subway), and near a full complement of local shops and Internet cafes. The hotel is small, with a grandly decorated lobby, with the restaurant area further back. The elevators are small (there are two of them), but no more so than a comparable "hotel de charme" on the Left Bank in Paris. My room was on the top floor of the hotel, with a large terrace, to which I had access. It faced the Avenida Pueyrredon, perhaps not a vantage for a light sleeper (more rooms of the hotel face the back than the front), but I had no trouble (as a New Yorker) sleeping with the hum of traffic outside. My room was quite fair-sized, and simply yet handsomely decorated. The amount of closet and drawer space was limited though sufficient for me (a single traveler staying for a week), and the bathroom was small, though clean and modern. A buffet breakfast was served from 7:00 to 10:30 AM, and was complimentary. The selections tended more towards breakfast pastries than eggs (though scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages were served, and there were selections of fruit and yoghurt), but it provided a more than adequate start to my day. The staff was helpful when called upon to be so (I am a rather independent traveler), and was otherwise friendly, pleasant and courteous. For the cost, I found the Kempinski a very good value.

| Boutique hotel, with limited number of rooms. Bathrooms are tiny, but rooms themselves are generous. Had room at back of hotel, no view, but rooms at front of the hotel could be noisy as the hotel is located on a busy street.

| Great hotel with a nice staff in a wonderful location in Recoleta. First day AC didn't work that well, but after that it was fine, just think it'd been off prior to my arrival. Furnishings are elegant, nice lobby, good breakfast, helpful front desk.

| The staff of this hotel are indeed excellent. They were friendly, helpful and communicative (in Spanish and English). The breakfast was delicious, although on some mornings, it was difficult to find a table.
