| This hotel had everything we needed - superior service and well appointed rooms. The only drawback was that getting into the hotel was a deceptively long walk with escalator rides (we thought it would be a few steps from the train station - but it was a few hundred meandering steps). Also, avoid the rooms around the east side of the hotel as the walk to the elevator was almost 200 paces (yes, we counted because it was sooo long).

| We just completed our first trip to Japan and the Hotel Granvia was a great part of our experience. The location above the train station was perfect so we didn't have to haul our luggage onto another train. We arrived before check-in at 3pm but they took our bags and had them delivered to our room by the time we returned from our afternoon tour. The guest relations booked several tours for us and offered several great recommendations. The hotel had a great bar on the 15th floor with some wonderful views of the city. The location also included a mall and a large department store attached to the station with some great take out food in the basement if you were in a hurry like we were so often. On the downside the pool is about $10 a person and is mostly used for excerise, not the nice cool relaxing pool I was hoping for after a hot August day in Kyoto.

| Palatial rooms by Japanese standards. Excellent choice for business (if you are not paying the tab) or for a treat to have extremely comfortable accommodations if you do not want to get too far away from Western standards of luxury. Location in Kyoto station gives prime access to subways, cabs, and intercities. Complimentary high speed internet access is a nice plus.

| My spouse and I just spent 4 days in Kyoto (July 2006). We are delighted with Hotel Granvia: it is centrally located, very comfortable, and the staff is very courteous. Most importantly, it is a great value. We recommend it without hesitation.

| After a full day of tourist activity, the Hotel was a welcome sight! The rooms are spacious and well decorated; the staff professional, cheerful, and helpful. The bathrooms are particularly nice with a large shower area (Japanese style) and tub, counter and sink area, and separate toilet. Based on the combination of the quality & service combined with a perfect location, I would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone interested in traveling to Kyoto. The one disappointment I must mention however was the additional charge for use of the pool.

| Cantrally located, very modern, professional staff and part of the Kyoto railway station complex and large shopping centre with separtment store, restaurents etc., the Gravia Kyoto is ideal. It's not cheap, but what is in Japan?
