Features
What to expect: This bright, casual, and friendly hotel is surrounded by long-established businesses as well as newer cultural attractions. A kinetic sculpture by artist Susumu Shingu, poised above the entrance, greets the clientele of businesspeople, government workers, vacationers, and baseball fans. Traditional Japanese floral arrangements are exhibited within the lobby area, and photographer Toyo Miyatake’s 1930s prints hang on corridor walls.

Amenity highlights: Miyako Spa, on the third floor, provides soothing peace after a long day of work or sightseeing. Separate areas are provided for men and women, each with dressing and relaxation areas, spa tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and shiatsu massage treatment rooms. A fitness room, outdoor patio with chaise lounges, and computer station for Web surfing and e-mail access are also at hand (surcharges).

Insider tip: While L.A.’s Museum of Contemporary Art was being constructed, architect Frank Gehry turned a renovated warehouse—located one block from the hotel--into a temporary exhibition space. Known for its dynamic architecture and avant-garde works and installations, the “Temporary Contemporary” (MOCA at the Geffen) was such a hit that it was kept as a permanent branch of the main museum.

Hata Restaurant - Located on the second floor, with windows overlooking Little Tokyo. Japanese, American, fusion cuisine. Buffets, à la carte menu. Breakfast and dinner are served daily. Lunch service will end September 16, 2005.

Ohjah - Adjacent to restaurant. Clubby atmosphere with full bar. Open from late afternoon to midnight.

Café Take 5 - Independently operated lobby café. Serves lunch, sandwiches, pastries, coffee drinks. Complimentary wireless Internet access. Open from early morning to late night.

Although I was given a smoking room, the rest of the amenities were very nice including the lobby cafe and the free wireless internet in my room.

Enjoyed my stay at the Miyako Hotel. The staff was very kind and helpful. I was a little leary of staying in downtown LA but I felt very safe there. There was lots of places to eat and shop within walking distance and the freeway was very easy to access. The Miyako will be my LA hotel from now on.

In interesting "Little Tokyo" area. Only complaint is that room was very hot and took several hours to cool down. However, was during July 2006 extreme heat wave.

This hotel is in the heart of Little Tokyo. It is clean and comfortable and nice for a business traveler. Only thing to make it better would be free parking and a better breakfast choices, or included breakfast. Room was very nice.

This is a very typical business hotel with rooms that are well above average. I stayed in the standard room, but enjoyed facilities I would only expect in a more expensive room (29inch tv, DVD player, free WIFI, great restroom!). I wouldn't rate the location as ideal since it was quite a walk from the nearest MTA station, however depending on what you want in a location, it can work both ways. If Little Tokyo is where u need to be, its probably the best hotel, otherwise, there are hotels in better locations within Downtown LA.
