| This is the second time I chose to stay at this establishment due to the good experience I had before. Things have changed though. The staff is completely different and not as friendly. The quality of the rooms and hotel in general have both gone down hill. The last time I stayed the staff was super understanding and helpful with checking us in early and letting us leave later at no cost due to out flight times. This time neither were an option for us unless we paid extra. Our door was disfunctional, our air conditioner leaked, our window was cracked, and we had quite a few pest incidents. I understand that this trip was about cutting costs for me but the great deal that I thought I received during my first visit was certainly not relived this time. I would not advise anyone to stay here and personally will not again.

| I read several other expedia reviews prior to booking this hotel. What I found was that it met my expectations. I would describe it as a rustic place to stay (almost like a cabin on a lake). Everything was in working order and the room was clean but it was older. If you plan on spending the day in your room you may find the AC unit is not strong enough for the size of the room but once the FL sun goes down the room temperature is great. Also, they do not have elevators so if you are elderly or can't carry your luggage up steps on your own you may want to request a ground floor room or stay elsewhere. I loved having the convenience of my own fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and toaster. Plus it came with and adequate amount of dishes, utensils, paper towels, and dish liquid & towels to clean them. The pool was great and they also offer a continental breakfast every morning and coffee throughout the day. The staff was pleasant.

| I really enjoyed to stay in this hotel. The view is amazing. People who works there is very nice and helpfull. The hotel is near the best beach in Fort Lauderdale. And having the breakfast included is a big deal. The breakfast is simple, but satisfied and delicious. The room that I stayed was big and clean.

| This hotel reminded me of the small quaint hotels that my family stayed in when I was a child....Not expensive, nothing fancy but had all your basic ammenities. I would definitely return and would recommend to anyone. We stayed in rooms 106 and 107. Both located by the pool and very convinient to the front office. Hotel has a wonderful view of the main drag and ocean while you are enjoying your complimentary breakfast!!!!!Thanks Avalon for making this a wonderful stay!

| We stayed in the B building which wasn't an ocean view, but it had a lovely courtyard w/ picnic tables and grills available to the guests. The hotel is weathered and a little beat up on the outside, but is unique and has a lot of character. It was very clean. The room was large & the bed was so comfortable! We will definitely stay there again. It's a short distance from the gay beach, and may not be suitable for all types of families; but we certainly loved the location. Everything was within walking distance.

| The photos do not do this palce justice... it was not too nice and not worth the price tag, even with proximity to ocean. The hotel had graffiti and creepy long-term tenants. Beware of some rooms. Our room windows would not close and the bathroom was not too pleasant. Staff was extremely rude and banged on door to give message.

| All the adjacent hotels to Avalon waterfront were in the process of being remodeled or reconstructed. So, the nearby area was not clean. The hotel itself gives the impression that it is abandoned. The paint is peeling, rust all over the place. I reserved two rooms. One of the rooms I got into had the worst smell. The wall in the bathroom was black. I guess there was some water leakage in the floor above. But no one dared to check the room before I got into it. I requested to change the room. And effectively, they gave me an upgraded room without hassle. However, few hours later, they gave the room with the horrible smell to some new guests. Other than that, everything was just fine.

| The staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to check in early. The bathrooms need an upgrade but we stayed in one of the older building in the back. The kitchen was functiona. The pool overlooks the ocean. If you plan to spend the majority of the time on the beach and boardwalk its worth it!
