Features
What to expect: The construction of the Hyatt Regency Calgary in 1998 was an integral part of the urban revival and gentrification of a historic part of the city. The hotel features a blend of high-tech, contemporary design grafted onto refurbished historic buildings that are among the city’s oldest. The dazzling lobby has a mahogany canoe suspended from the ceiling, and 300 works of contemporary Canadian art are displayed in the lobby and on the second floor.

Amenity highlights:The hotel’s Stillwater Spa offers a full range of massage, body treatments, and nail care. Facilities on the 18th floor of the hotel include a swimming pool, spa tub, steam room, sundeck and fitness center, with a superb view of downtown Calgary and the Canadian Rockies.

Thomsons - Housed in the historic Thomson Brothers Block, Thomsons offers regional Canadian cuisine. Thomsons serves breakfast--including a buffet--lunch, and dinner.

Sandstone Fireside Lounge - For cocktails, casual lunches, and dinners. This attractive lounge offers the opportunity to relax in splendor by a cozy fireplace, at an elegant long bar, or to sip a cocktail on the patio in summer. “Happiest Hour” pricing 4-7 PM, Monday-Friday.

You can tell that the front desk staff just didn't want to be there. They had my room wrong, wrong bed type, smoking instead of non-smoking, etc. But they didn't care, didn't offer to fix it and when I asked for a different room they said that they couldn't change my room. I couldn't even get a late check out from them which every other hotel I have ever been in (I travel at least twice a month) has no problem doing.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. The staff was really friendly. The restaurants in the hotel were expensive but the breakfast buffet was very good. Over all it was a great experience.

Everything was perfect. Although I didn't spend all day in my room, the super-comfy bedding was a definite stay-in-bed temptation. Spacious bathrooms, ample bathtubs, excellent dining choices, everything was great.

Not only is the Hyatt a great Hotel, but it's one of the best locations for the Hotel to reside. It sits on the corner of centre street and 8th which is smack dab in the middle of town with lots of stores and restaurants to visit within walking distance and a great view from your hotel room. The hotel restaurant also serves a great buffet breakfast.

The hotel was nice, clean and comfortable but we were not impressed with the fact that for such an upscale hotel they charged for everything under the sun and the prices were ridiculously high. Every hotel I have stayed in, even lower rated hotels, have had complimentary parking and internet access, etc. Not so at the Hyatt, which I found rather discouraging and it did make our stay less enjoyable to find that they charged guests for simple things that they really didn't need to.
