Beneath the historic, art-deco exterior of the Ramada Inn and Suites beats the heart of a thoroughly hip hotel that can lay claim to two of the city's hottest gathering places—Morrissey's Irish Bar and Grill, and Ginger 62 nightclub. Guests also enjoy the use of a coin-operated e-mail machine in the lobby, valet parking, and business services provided by hotel staff.

Features
What to expect: Built in 1906, this updated, six-story hotel radiates energy and style, from its art-deco furnishings and friezes to its ultra-trendy nightclub. Vacationers coming to the city in search of fun after dark appreciate the proximity to theaters, restaurants, and nightclubs. Personalized service standards and a casual atmosphere prevail. Amenity highlights: Guests can send e-mail using a coin-operated machine in the lobby. They also can enjoy complimentary access to an independent fitness center located 1 block from the hotel. The front desk staff offers concierge services, including booking tours and theater tickets, and arranging for transportation. Staff members also assist with faxing and photocopying. Insider tip: The hotel is 2 blocks from historic Granville Bridge, a major access route into the city of Vancouver. Walking onto the bridge, which is less than 1 mile long, allows for unobstructed views of the city, English Bay, False Creek, and Granville Island. It's a great spot to watch the sun set (or rise).
Morrissey's Irish Bar & Grill - This popular New York-style Irish bar and grill serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Candles, plush leather chairs, a fireplace, and dark-wood paneling set the mood along with Irish, Belgian, German, and microbrew beers on tap. Specialties include Irish stew, bangers and mash (sausage and potatoes), fish and chips, and shepherd's pie. Adults only after 10:30 PM. Ginger 62 Cocktail Den & Kitchen - Hollywood actors Minnie Driver and Angelina Jolie have relaxed on the plush leather couches and oversized futons found in this Vancouver hotspot. Gauze curtains and red-and-orange spotlighting create separate spaces and moods. Award-winning menu leans heavily toward tapas and finger food. Dinner and appetizers served Tuesday through Sunday. Hotel guests don't have to wait in line or pay cover charges.

| Our family of 4 was a bit cramped in the room. On the other hand, the staff was helpful and the place was clean enough. The parking lot is too small on a busy night, but they will give you free valet parking if needed. My only real complaints are the room size and the breakfast plan. If you buy the breakfast with your room (a good deal), you can only choose the American breakfast. That may get old over a whole week.

| The hotel was just repainted and renovated (June 2006). Rooms were small, but adequate. Coffee shop next door was good breakfast option. Street on which hotel is located is not the most fashionable in downtown Vancouver. Hotel is last stop on downtown airport shuttle bus loop.

| I have to say, not only was our room very nice and comfortable, the staff at the Ramanda Inn and Suites were top-notch. They were very helpful with giving my daughter and I information about the city, bus and taxi services and restaurants and sightseeing information. They were some of the nicest people we encounterd on our trip. It's also a great location for getting around the city. We will definitely go back. Thanks for helping make this mother/daughter vacation memorable.

| This hotel wasn't at all ritzy, but it's clean and in a good location. The wait for the elevators was kind of long, and forget using the internet. Guests were constantly using it, and the area was not monitored by hotel staff in order to allow others to use it. I probably would not stay at this hotel again, but if you're traveling on a budget, I would recommend this hotel. Service at the front desk was good.

| Granted, it was a busy weekend in Vancouver and the hotels were booked, but I have never seen such bad service (and we were not alone here)... We reserved a room for 2 with a queen size bed, which they did not have for us when we attempted to check in. They sent us to another hotel, not in the location we originally wanted, but then failed to follow-through on the transfer -- when we arrived at this other hotel, they didn't know we were coming and we were lucky that they had a room for us. In short, the Downtown Vancouver Ramada may have decent rooms -- but we wouldn't know since the management was so incompetent and deceptive. Oh yeah, and the neighborhood is super-sketchy. In the end, it was probably better we didn't stay here -- an acquaintance staying at this hotel had their car broken into the same weekend.

| The hotel was overbooked due to marathon in town. Front staff were overwhelmed and not handling volume well. Check in was late and had to press for late check out due to checking in late, however, they did finally agree to it. Our room was directly OVER a nightclub which played LOUD music until 4am and had bar fights which included police arriving outside. Not a good pre-marathon sleep. Front desk seemed unimpressed when we mentioned it at 3am. No apologies/explanations were given. Not impressed with this aspect of hotel.

| I've stayed at Ramada twice - both times in Vancouver. Once at the Broadway Street Ramada, then at the downtown location. Both times I was very pleased overall with my stay. Nice rooms, clean, comfortable, well-priced, good amenities. I especially liked the free, wireless internet access in the downtown Ramada. The only mishap I had was not receiving a wake-up call I had requested. The staff couldn't explain why this happened, but it did. Luckily, I had brought a spare alarm clock as a back-up. I would recommend doing the same. The location was good - easy to walk wherever I wanted. At night time, it got a bit noisy at times in the lobby, but overall, okay.
