Coral Sands Hotel Amenities
The Terrace Restaurant, located on the main-house veranda, presents sophisticated Bahamian and international cuisine, accompanied by ocean views. Renovated in 2005, the hotel’s lobby displays a Great House style inspired by the islands’ colonial era. Dark-wood floors and wainscoting, French doors, and wood-paddle ceiling fans complement overstuffed chairs and deep, banquette-style, high-back couches. That style extends into the library, which contains board games, a pool table, a big-screen TV, and book-filled shelves. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the lobby, which also contains a computer with high-speed Internet access (surcharge).

Accessible by a flagstone path and stairway leading down from the hotel, a beach of pinkish sand lapped with light surf runs three miles along Harbour Island's eastern shore. The hotel provides lounge chairs and thatched shades on the beach. Use of snorkeling gear, kayaks, and boogie boards is complimentary, as is use of a lighted tennis court. Independent operators offer horseback riding on the beach. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

| The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms were kept very clean and neat. The hotel decor was calm and relaxing and the dining on site at the main dining and beach bar was extremely well presented and good tasting. We would definitely stay here again.

| May 2006 -- My husband and I enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing 5 day/4 night "Getaway Weekend" at the Coral Sands in Harbour Island, Bahamas. The hotel is small by U.S. standards (55 rooms), but relatively large in comparison to other Harbour Island properties. The location is ideal, situated above a wide stretch of the "Pink Sands" beach. A hotel owner greeted us on arrival, and every one of the plentiful staff was courteous and helpful. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was quite nice and spacious. The bedding is sumptuous, though the towels were not. Oh well, can't have everything. The balcony in our end unit was small, but the sweeping view more than made up for that. The hotel features a nice pool, lovely landscaping, and a spectacular beach. The beach sand is amazingly soft, and slightly pink. This is an older hotel, and its age shows in minor ways, but overall it is well maintained and quite charming. The hotel's restaurant is pricey, but of top quality. Overall we were very impressed with the Coral Sands, as well as Harbour Island overall as a vacation destination. We hope to become repeat customers someday...

| My wife and I just returned from the Coral Sands and loved the island, but the service at the hotel and around the island was "adequate" at best. Because gratuity was already included, many of the servers and front desk people acted as if we were bothering them. It felt like they weren't as friendly. We also thought it was a bit pricey compared to other places we have been. Although the beaches were beautiful, I don't think we will be returning anytime soon.

| A quiet spot to go in the Bahamas is Coral Sands Hotel on Harbour Island. It is located on the beach and is walking distance to Dunmore Town. The price seemed reasonable considering the location. The resourt was beautiful and clean. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The beach is beautiful for strolling and relaxing, but not for snorkeling which is what we enjoy doing on our vacations. I had read it was the safest place to swim, but a constant large wave comming in might make this a bit hazardous. This is the place to go for quiet. There is little activity and no one bothers you. (Only the roosters at the crack of dawn.)The resourt has terrific gourmet dinning. It's rather pricy accounting for the fact that %15 gratuity is included for our convenience. You can purchase food at the beach bar until 4:00 p.m., and dinning doesn't start till 7:00 p.m., so if you wish to eat between those times you will have to walk to down and visit one of the local restaurants. The locals are very friendly and don't seem to mind that their town is invaded with tourists. You do have to take caution while walking. The streets are narrow, and you have to move to avoid being hit by a speeding golf cart or an occasional car. The traffic is supposed to drive on the left, but it seems anything goes as long as you are moving!
