Best Western King Charles Inn Amenities
Set among some of the city’s legendary antique structures, this hotel is one mile from downtown Charleston and is conveniently located in the Historic District. Within 10 miles of the hotel are several historic homes and churches, Gibbes Museum of Art, College of Charleston, South Carolina Aquarium, The Citadel, Fort Sumter National Monument, Boone Hall Plantation, and Sullivan's Island. Built in 1958 where The Pavilion Hotel (circa 1830) once stood, this three-story hotel retains a few foundations and cornerstones from the time Edgar Allen Poe regularly retreated there while a soldier stationed at Fort Moultrie. The hotel includes antiques such as the library’s grandfather clock from the former hotel and a white-columned terrace contains an outdoor pool. The hotel can also arrange walking tours, carriage tours, and other tours that often begin in the lobby. Wireless Internet access is available in the lobby, lobby lounge, and pool deck areas.

Founded in 1670 and featuring 3,500 antique structures, Charleston’ well-preserved past is easily explored on foot. A half mile from the hotel and overlooking the city’s harbor, a walkway along the Battery seawall passes grand antebellum homes in one direction and Atlantic seascapes in the other. Walking tours abound, from churchyards with centuries-old headstones to plantation gardens and swamps. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

| This was your basic hotel. The room was nothing special (but also wasn't bad), although the lobby is very nice. There is a pool but no sauna. Parking is free. I chose this hotel because it was the cheapest downtown while still appearing decent. I wasn't disappointed.

| Great location right in the heart of downtown near the Market Street shopping area. Also within a few blocks of many other sights. Would definitely stay here again if I return to Charleston (which I hope I do).

| Very centrally located for seeing historic sights in old Charleston. Two blocks to wonderful shopping. Easy access to dining of all types. Hospitable and relaxing atmosphere. Reasonable and fair price. On site parking. In walking distance to everything I was interested in.

| Great location for walking to historic sites and restaurants. Good value. Pool is small but was enjoyed by kids. Could use new mattresses as they had seen better days.

| Front Desk staff wasn't helpful when checking in. She must have thought we had been there before because the instructions/information she gave us wasn't clear at all. Didn't even tell us our room number. Room was nice, but pillows were so soft it was like using nothing at all.
