This is the kind of hotel that someone stays when they don't know anything about philly. The rooms are fine and the hotel is centrally located but the mood of the hotel is positively depressing. It is located next to the bus station and has absolutely zero charm. For a little more, I suggest you upgrade to one of the better known hotels in the area.

I'm not one to usually write reviews, but our experience was so disappointing that we thought we should pass it on. To be brief: 1. The halls smelled bad. 2. Our room smelled worse. It is rated as a non smoking hotel, but someone clearly enjoyed a pack or two in our room at some point. 3. There was only one elevator that went up from the lobby. There was always a crowd waiting a while for a ride up. 4. Our bathroom could have been much cleaner. I'll spare you the details, but I know the hair color of the last person who stayed in our room. I'm sure if we told the front desk, they would have moved us, but it was too late, and we were too tired. We were glad only to be there one night.

the only reason it was so expensive is because it is next to the convention center. parking is a nightmare and it didn't look anything like the picture. the hotel itself is nice but for the price you could get a much more quaint stay somewhere else.

Wonderful location, poor experience. Had to wait 100 minutes to check in; at check in, too few receptionists, given the knowable number of people needing to check in; after waiting 40 minutes in line, a receptionist left and the manager said, "go to the back of one of the other 2 lines"--ending up in a 100 minute wait, as noted before; had to get 3 different room keys over a day and a half, since each one quit working properly after 12 or so hours; elevators were in and out of service (had to walk up and down 9 flights on a couple different occasions); did not have large bath towels available the last day--only hand towels; in the restaurant, an order for a medium rare ribeye steak came out as a steak very well done; service very slow in restaurant. Rooms were nice--but I will never reserve this hotel again. Apparentrly poor management. Even employees of the hotel spoke negatively of how things were handled, and feared getting blamed for obvious problems.

The Hilton Garden Inn is about six blocks from the Old City, including such sites as Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. A problem with communication between Expedia and the hotel made it somewhat difficult for us to get our "full breakfast included" but this was ultimately resolved. I found it unusually difficult to navigate from the parking garage back into the hotel and vice versa. Overall, the quality of the hotel itself seemed quite good. The immediate neighborhood surrounding the hotel seemed somewhat rough and I was not comfortable venturing out on foot after dusk.

The Hilton Garden Inn is an excellent place to stay for proximity to the historical areas of Philadelphia, Chinatown, and Reading Terminal Market. The value is also excellent. I found the staff helpful, the rooms comfortable, and the facility well maintained. The pool and fitness room are also well cared for and well equipped. A 20-minute walk will have you at the Delaware River and Penn's Landing, in the Old City, or at the Art Museum. The location is perfect for a leisurely visit. For business, the conference facilities in the hotel are very good, and it is connected to the Convention Center. When I am in Philadelphia for pleasure or for business, this is my destination.

The front desk clerks and bell hops were so very friendly and courteous. Also, the restaurant staff at breakfast were very helpful, remembered us from one day to the next and were very aware of our needs. My 11 year old son said,"Mom, this may be a 3 star hotel, but in my book, it is 5 star." It was within 5 blocks of the major historical events.

Hotel was good for the price paid. Was a little hard to find at first because it is actually on top of a parking garage. Within walking distance of many of the attractions (Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross House, etc.) Dont go for the breakfast buffet, not worth the money. Many better places to eat for half the price around the hotel,Reading Terminal Market.
