In summer, children enjoy complimentary supervised activities on a rubberized area adjacent to the outdoor swimming pool. Access to a health club, which includes a steam room and a fitness room containing cardio and weight machines, is available for a daily surcharge. (Access to the health club's indoor swimming pool is complimentary.) A games room includes coin-operated video games as well as a jukebox and complimentary use of felt-top card tables. Contained within the hotel's U-shape garden courtyard are an 18-by-11-meter (60-by-35-foot) swimming pool and an 18-meter-diameter (60-foot) children's pool consisting of a channel encircling a palm-tree island. For year-round swimming there's a heated 9-by-5-meter (30-by-16-foot) pool in a skylighted pavilion. Separated by the marina across the street from the hotel, two beaches extend along the Atlantic Ocean fronting Vilamoura. Both are approximately 100 meters (109 yards) deep and accessible by boardwalks that protect natural vegetation. Nearest is one-km-long (0.75-mile) Marina Beach, which is 300 meters (328 yards) from the hotel. Falésia Beach is nine km long (5.5 miles) and 700 meters (766 yards) away. In summer, various watersports gear, including personal watercraft, kayaks, and windsurfers, can be rented from independent operators on the beaches. Located 200 meters (219 yards) away at a partner hotel, Vila Gale Ampalius, are two lighted artificial-grass tennis courts (surcharges) and a putting green. Complimentary shuttle service is provided to all four golf courses located within the 5,000-acre Vilamoura resort and to another course, Vila Sol. Other recreational facilities within Vilamoura include a sports complex, an equestrian center, a shooting club, a tennis center, a lawn-bowling green, and jogging, hiking, and bicycle trails. | My only dissatisfaction is that the swimming pools were not open when I wanted to use it: before 08:00 in the morning and after 21:00 at night, and a swimming cap was required, so I did not swim.
