Recreation
The outdoor recreation options in Banff National Park are almost limitless. Foot excursions range from short, self-guided nature walks to challenging mountaineering routes. Fishing and canoeing can be enjoyed in summer on the nearby Bow River, and horseback riding is popular. The 27-hole golf course at the Fairmont Banff Springs (visitors welcome, reservations required) is excellent. Fall offers excellent hiking on uncrowded trails in cool, invigorating, and bug-free weather. In winter, skiers and snowboarders enjoy the world-class slopes of Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village, and Lake Louise ski areas. The lodge offers a lap pool and an extensive fitness facility.

Features
What to expect: Just a block from bustling Banff Avenue, the Lodge has long been a favorite with overseas package group tourists, conventioneers, and independent travelers. Expansive conference facilities and break-out rooms are ideal for corporate meetings, family reunions, weddings, or other special occasions. It’s an excellent base for a wide variety of Rocky Mountain adventures such as skiing, walking/hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. The welcoming front lobby features a three-story fireplace. Amenity highlights: The spa tub, indoor saltwater pool, and eucalyptus steam room beckon after outdoor adventures. The Terrace dining room and lounge and Chinook restaurant offer fine and casual dining, respectively. Insider tip: For skiers and snowboarders using the shuttle bus service that operates between Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village, and Lake Louise ski areas, the lodge is the last stop leaving Banff in the morning, and the first stop on the way into town. This convenient location cuts about 30 minutes of travel time each way, enabling guests to sleep in longer in the morning and return from skiing earlier in the afternoon.
Chinook Restaurant - This all-day restaurant is known for its international breakfast buffets and specialty theme nights featuring seafood Italiano, an authentic "cowboy style" Western buffet, and hot curry. Terrace Dining Room & Lounge - Open daily for dinner, the Terrace Dining Room’s diverse menu emphasizes Canadian fare, from Black Angus Alberta beef to venison medallions and wild caribou from Canada’s Arctic. Large wine list.

| The staff was excellent, especially the Bell Staff, which doubles as conscierge. They were very knowledgeable and recommended things based on our individual preferences, not because the restaurantr down the street was "a marketing partner". Moreover, everyone on staff seemed to _want_ to be there, and enjoy their jobs. The room was functional, not extravagant. The bed was kinda hard, the pillows too squishy. The water was hot, and the shower had good water pressure. It's convenient, too. We did not have a car, and found the gift shop too expensive for stuff we forgot, ,ut there is a Safeway store only 2 blocks away, and a convenience store across the street. The Bow river is only a block away, and has a walking trail.

| Overall, it's nice. Good location, clean, comfy beds and awesome massage showerheads. You're off the main drag enough (a block) so that it's relatively quiet, but close enough to be accessible. But my minor complaints: no mini-fridge in rooms (But you can get a $5 cooler at Safeway a block away); only one entrance, so if your room is at the end (like mine was), you have to walk halfway down the block (it's a loooong hotel) to the main entrance, than all the way back through the halls, even though your room is literally 10 feet from the exit; and it'd be nice to have cheaper Internet service (it's $9 a day for wireless or $2 for 15 minutes in the lobby). But if you're going to Banff for hiking or skiing, you can live with the piddly complaints, especially since this is one of the most affordable places in town.

| We've stayed at the Banff Park Lodge approximately 15 times and look forward to returning. It's located within a short walk of shopping and restaurants and has the best buffet breakfast in Banff. In addition, the underground parking is very convenient. The only down side is if you are staying there during a rare warm spell. The rooms are not air conditioned which is true of most of the accommodations in Banff. We would highly recommend the Banff Park Lodge.

| 1.It is two blocks from mainstreet and all the shops and restaurants. 2. There is a great breakfast place across the street. 3. Best of all -- It is the last stop the ski buses make before heading to the mountains, and it is their first stop when bringing you back from the ski slopes. And, the staff are very friendly and helpful in providing info on things to do, see, and booking the reservation for you. The hotel is a Great Value for the money!!!

| Excellent place to stay because it is so close to downtown Banff that you don't have to get in your car. There are shops right and excellent eating places right in the hotel.
