| We were really pleased with the service at Historic Anchorage Hotel. I don't think we could have chosen better! The hotel sits right in the middle of town, just across from the visitors' information center and within two blocks of the railroad station. It's within easy walking distance of the Anchorage Museum of Art and History, and just a few steps away from many wonderful shops and restaurants. If you want a conveniently-located hotel that will make you feel at home, this is the place. The staff is friendly and eager to help. The continental breakfast is substantial and offers a variety of high quality foods, inclusing make-it-yourself waffles (my husband's favorite). If you're looking for a very spacious room, this isn't the place for you--but the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, if small. The hotel doesn't offer really great views due to the fact that it's surrounded by so many taller buildings--but the historic feel of the building and the historic photos of Anchorage that line the lobby and hallways make it a very pleasant place to stay.

| If you love historic settings, this old hotel is really a treat. Take a break from the brand-name franchise hotels and experience old Alaska, right in the middle of downtown Anchorage. The only drawback = this pre-earthquake building is sometimes loud, so if there's someone in the room next door or upstairs, you'll hear the footsteps and creaking of floors, etc.

| There is a teen club across the alley from the hotel. Right below our room, on a Saturday night, several vehicles were parked below our room in the alley with many teens (over 50) packed in....yelling, fighting, smoking, etc. We came back from dinner to relax and watch a movie. We had to shut the windows and turn on the fan to help drowned out the noise. We called the front desk and the guy said he would go and talk to the kids. Didn't help.
