| As noted by other reviewers the hotel is indeed basic, a bit dated, and looking worn out. But it is comfortable enough and the staff are very friendly, and the rates are very reasonable. More importantly, it has a very nice location by the beach of a lovely tropical looking bay. Easiest way to get to the hotel is by taxi, which is very affordable and a nice drive from the airport. There is a ferry terminal not far away from the hotel and the fast ferry takes only 30 minutes to get you into Hong Kong city.

| Hotel is fine for the price, a fairly quiet area. nice view over beach - get sea view room if possible. Some good local restaurants away from the hotel.

| The location is not very convenient because it's far from the main shopping and dining area. It's like 10-15 minute walk from the bus stop and ferry. No nice restaurants around the vicinity but the food in the hotel is good. I love the buffet breakfast because the food is fresh. For people who just want to relax and enjoy the beach view it's a good location, but not for people who love to see the lights from the city and who enjoy shopping both day and night.

| The Silvermine is an old hotel in a backwater bay. 1970's Red Roof. Clean, staff is friendly but don't expect a HongKong **** It's about a half mile to the bus/ferry. 1+hour by bus over the mountain to/from airport. You have to walk from the bus, so if you have a bunch of luggage and a weak heart, don't come here. No bottled water in the room. Downstairs they will charge $++HK for a bottle. Shops in town $--HK.

| I have stayed at the Silvermine Beach Hotel twice now. It is a 90 shuttle bus ride from the Hong Kong International Airport (a $14 Hong Kong Dollar one way trip), and is in a fantastically beautiful location on Silvermine Bay. The view from the hotel is outstanding, as you look out on to the bay wit its clean beach and green forested hills flanking it. The hotel is comfortable, affordable, and has a nice restaurant too, with a great selection of imported beers.

| Beachside hotel better for leisure pursuits than business travelers to Hong Kong. The staff are politer and friendly and qucik to mprovide advise. The room was basic clean and the bed comfortable enough for a good nights sleep. The breakfast buffet was a treat with plenty of choice from fresh fruits to fine tasting coffee.

| I like how they include a full breakfast, not "continental", every day. They also have a good variety of food for luch and dinner as well. The hotel really is just a short walk from many forms of transportation, and I like how you can see the beach right outside the window. For those who like exercise, there is a small room with some cardio equipment and some machines and free weights. They also have room service, if you want food in your room. The only problems I had with the room were that the bed was really hard and tehre was no microwave. Other than that, Silvermine's the best hotel I've stayed in. I'm looking forward to going there again soon.
