| I usually stay in less expensive hotels, but when my choices in Konstanz seemed to be either the top end or the low end I went for the top. I was particularly attracted by the fact that the building used to be a monastery; I was in Konstanz doing research on medieval wall painting, some of which is in the hotel itself (in the former church now turned into a ballroom--it's usually locked, so if you're interested in seeing it ask at the front desk). I wasn't disappointed with either the building as a whole or with the room itself, though considering the price, the room wasn't overwhelmingly spectacular; it's more the whole experience you're paying for (I had a smaller room away from the lakefront). The breakfast buffet was excellent.

| Unfortunately, there were no toileteries in my room when I arrived. On the second day, same thing, so I thought that was the norm here. On the day I was checking out, suddenly a supply of toileteries appeared. (??) I spoke to the desk about it when I checked out but was give the impression that the fault was mine for not asking earlier and I'm sure there is some merit to that.
