Features
What to expect: Popular with business travelers because of its proximity to Bridgetown, the hotel also appeals to adult leisure travelers desiring a tranquil beachside holiday with ready access to downtown duty-free shopping. While the hotel is located on the south coast's main street, its U-shape design, graced by a four-story waterfall, assures quiet. Locals favor the hotel for special occasions and meetings.

Amenity highlights: Two pools lie between the main building and a 75-yard Caribbean Sea beach 125 yards away. One runs 45 yards in two channels through a narrow garden courtyard—graced by a four-story waterfall—leading to the beach. A good-size beachfront pool features a swim-up bar, with lounges and umbrellas on an adjacent two-level sunning area. Offshore reefs ensure calm-water swimming off the beach, which is partly shaded by tropical almond trees.

Insider tip: Locals and visitors alike gather Friday nights for music, dancing, beer, rum, and food such as grilled fish and barbecued chicken in an open-air "fish fry" adjacent to the daytime fish market at Oistins, 3 miles away.

Boucan Wine Bar & Restaurant - Covered, open-air, linen-service seating under ceiling fans. Bar featuring giant tamarind-tree trunk rising through roof opening. Buffet, à la carte, and Continental breakfasts. Buffet and à la carte lunch featuring international and Bajan (Barbadian) selections. À la carte dinner. Starters such as duck-breast terrine, grilled tuna, seafood cassoulet, escargot/artichoke souvlaki, chilled pineapple/mango soup. Main courses include grilled fish, shrimp-stuffed lobster, strip steak. Sunday international/Bajan buffet brunch.

Beach Bar - Open-air spot under wood roof. Long bar, swim-up bar, wood-deck with umbrella tables. Salads, sandwiches, burgers, steak, fish, tropical drinks. Open late morning to early evening.

Just got back from Barbados. Spent 6 nites at The Savannah. We were delighted with our room...they upgraded us to a duplex without our asking. The management tries to bring in entertainment to entice you to stay for dinner: jazz band, Italian nite with wine tasting, manager's cocktail party, etc. There are so many great restaurants that we enjoyed what they offered but dined elsewhere. Rooms were wonderful and staff, for the most part, delightful. It's easy to get to Bridgetown and St. Lawrence Gap by bus (75 cents) or by taxi ($10). This is not a fancy/swank resort but rather a nice, quiet, clean and pretty spot for a soothing vacation. Just what we needed!

Great Layout! Rooms overlook courtyard that step down the hill to the ocean. There is a nice waterfall at the top of the hill under the open air rest. The water is the focal point, as fountains that cascade to the bottom of the hill make for a transition down to the winding pools to the bottom where the final pool & decking meet at the swim-up bar & beach. The pool bar is next to the beach area. I'm not a beach lover, more a poolside & bar person, though I did observe the beach sand as a little rocky for my taste, I prefer a sugar type sand, the sand was very corse on this beach, so bring your water shoes (rubber shoes). The pool bar served a local draft beer,(Banks),that I enjoyed while eating my Mahi lunch plate that was tasty & within a reasonable price for the island. A very nice area to lounge & enjoy the sunshine & passing showers. I enjoyed the ocean view, and looking up the hill at the resort courtyard that just makes you feel comfortable, and that you are in your own little tropical paradise of sorts. We only stayed one night, as we had just concluded a cruise aboard the Holland America, Windspirit Lines sailing ship, the Windsurf. (Great Cruise!) We were tired, so we only hungout at the hotel for the day, had room service for dinner, and enjoyed a great view and a Siesta on our balcony porch, complete with a comfy lounging sofa to snooze on.

Returned for a 2nd year, in April. Again found staff to be quite friendly, attentive and responsive; room to be clean and comfortable; food tasty and pricey. Loved walking down steps from our porch into the pool!! Beach still a bit rough on the feet!!

For what we were paying, we expected something much nicer....the only saving grace was that we had a room over looking the ocean...or what we could see of it through the trees. The service was not good: the bar staff was not friendly and I had to repeatedly ask for room and pool towels. The front desk people were the only friendly ones in the place. Barbados was nice, but I would not go back to this hotel.

This hotel had many great features and amenities. Right on the beach, it had a great fresh water pool and beach bar along with loungers and chairs for the beach. Lots of coral in the water (Ouch!) but that is the same most everywhere on Barbados. The restaurant was OK, we found the prices were high for the mediocre quality of the food and service. We decided to go to other restaurants for dinner each night of our stay and enjoyed the top quality of many of them. The biggest negative of this hotel was our "superior" room which was in the older part of the facility and was equivalent to a 1950s hotel in the USA. We had problems with the plumbing, lighting, creaky floors, etc. Old and worn out and no view. The newer rooms were more expensive but were in much better shape and had outside verandas and a great view overlooking the pool or ocean.
