Features
What to expect: Since the Mayflower opened in 1925, it has been a Washington landmark. Dignitaries and tourists walk through the block-long marble lobby with gold-leaf trimming. During the week, guests are mostly corporate travelers doing business with the corporations and law firms along Connecticut Avenue. On weekends, leisure guests arrive for weddings, galas, and other social events.
Amenity highlights: Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the brick-and-stone Mayflower is a tourist attraction, and guests can take a self-guided tour of the hotel with a brochure available from the concierge. In keeping with the hotel’s elegant decor, the fitness room has crown moldings and mirrored walls, and offers four exercycles, four treadmills, two cross-country ski machines, weight machines, free weights, and two TVs.
Insider tip: Every summer, jazz musicians perform free shows at lunchtime on Thursdays in Farragut Square, three blocks south of the hotel. In addition, the Phillips Collection has staged Sunday afternoon concerts since 1941; the concerts are included in the admission fee to this modern art museum located a half-mile north of the hotel in Dupont Circle.
Café Promenade - This restaurant’s remarkable features include murals by New Deal-era artist Edward Laning and a shimmering crystal chandelier. Mediterranean dishes dominate the lunch and dinner menus. The most popular meals of the power-broker set are breakfast and tea. Town and Country - Overstuffed chairs and wood paneling give this large lounge serving lunch and dinner the feel of a private club. The menu of 101 martinis is locally famous. Lobby Lounge - Just inside the main entrance is a small, partially enclosed alcove that houses a coffee-and-cocktail bar. Guests can sit in chairs and sofas around the bar or walk upstairs for more private seating around the gilded balcony.

| this is a Washington D.C. landmark hotel. It is beautifully appointed. Staff is very attentive and always has a smile. It is conveniently located to all the sites in the D.C. areas with a metro stop on the corner. The metro is easy to use and not expensive.

| We were kept awake VERY late Saturday night by the night club next door and the wedding in the hotel ballroom. As NYers we are NOT light sleepers so this was no small disturbance. Make sure you get a room away from those areas.

| room is small. We reserved a double bed room, but Hotel will tell no more double bed room, they will assign you a single bed room. Waited for long time to check in/out. No pool. worst of all, a false fire alarm may wake you up from sleep.

| This hotel is very grand, and it's got a very nice lobby. The service is great. The room I had was very clean and comfortable. Only one problem: someone in a room across from mine had a party and there was smoking. The smoke came right into my room. The hotell staff brought a machine, which was loud, to suck up the smoke in my room. Actually, they should have enforced the rules of the non-smoking floor . . . .

| We had a very enjoyable stay at the Mayflower. From the valet on the service was wonderful, courteous and helpful. The quality of the bed, bedding and toiletry products was excellent. Breakfast was delicious, varied and fresh. Although our room was small it was all we needed for a romantic weekend for two. Our only problem was the long time it took to receive the bottle of champagne ordered through room service. We had to call again and by the time it came we were too tired to enjoy it - but it was certainly enjoyed the next night. The exercise room was busy but never too crowded for us to get in a good workout. We will definitely plan to return. Great staff.
