Features
What to expect: The Suncoast opened August 2001 in suburban Summerlin, the U.S.'s largest planned community. The 440-room hotel, catering to locals as well as vacationers, is a 10-story tower of subtle desert tones and bronze windows rising against a backdrop of the Spring Mountains and a low-rise neighborhood. The result is a large casino accommodating day visitors as well as hotel guests. And, because of price competition, the resort offers good food-and-drink value.

Amenity highlights: Surrounded by a sundeck with mountain views, a good-size pool provides cool relief from sunning sessions, while a six-person spa offers social soaking. On Wednesdays, the pool deck is the site of an outdoor party, with band music.

Insider tip: Suncoast offers scheduled, complimentary shuttles to and from the Strip and the airport. Service to the Strip begins at 10 AM and return trips end at 12:15 AM. Airport transportation begins early in the morning and goes all day and into the night. Reservations are required.

Primo's - Offering views of The Strip's neon lights, this elegant dinner house features steaks and seafood.

Via Veneto - This restaurant serves Italian fare and seafood and contains one of the world's largest stained-glass murals, an Italian garden scene gracing the back wall.

Don Miguel's - This Mexican restaurant includes dishes such as red snapper flavored with cascabel-pepper sauce and offers plush seating in oversize booths.

Café Siena - Serving Chinese food prepared in a separate kitchen, this 24-hour restaurant offers a long menu that includes familiar American dishes. Several 99-cent breakfast specials are available from midnight to 9 AM.

St. Tropez International Buffet - Split up into intimate dining areas, this restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets from seven cooking stations. On Sundays there's a champagne brunch.

The Oyster Bar - Freshly shucked bivalves and pan roasts are the attractions here.

Terrible Mike's - This spot serves burgers and other fast foods.

Kate's Korner - This is an ice cream shop with an old-fashioned look.

Seattle's Best Coffee - This coffee bar also serves pastries.

Room service is available 24 hours.

Seating 500 in classic Las Vegas splendor and employing high-tech light and sound systems, the Suncoast Showroom features familiar entertainers such as Rich Little, Bobby Rydell, and Frankie Avalon.

A 64-lane bowling center offers Cosmic Bowling on Friday and Saturday nights—a festival of lasers, lights, and music. There's also a 16-screen movie theater that includes loveseat and rocking-chair seating.

Distinguished by recessed ceilings containing colored lights, the 80,000-square-foot Casino supplies slots, video poker, blackjack, craps, baccarat, pai gow, roulette, keno, and a 156-seat race and sports book. The hotel also includes a 600-seat bingo room.

Coast Casinos Club offers free membership cards that consolidate in single accounts slot and table play at four Las Vegas casinos (The Orleans, Suncoast, Barbary Coast, and Gold Coast). Members earn cash and/or comp rewards redeemable for event tickets, restaurants, and merchandise.

Seems like a new place, that isn't quite ready for business. Loved the look, bowling ally, casino. But hated trying to navigate around. No signs, no layout maps. Loved the room, but would have liked one that faced the Golf instead of the roof of a building. And worst...we went to the pool to enjoy Bar service, and bar was closed. 7pm, on a Sat, during 4th July weekend. Said I had to go into Casino and buy drinks, then walk them out. However there is no straight path to casino from Pool. had to take elevator up/down, walk around casino in dripping suit. But I would go again, very nice place. Soon as they get all the kinks ironed out. Room service was great, BEWARE, the breakfast Pancakes are HUGE, you only need one plate for 2 - 3 people. FunBooks had great freebies, free drinks, free desserts.

We stayed here in 2 rooms with my daughter and her 2 children. We had lots of things to do during the day and visiting our local relatives was easy since this hotel is in the residential area. At night, it was the gambling, movies, restaurants and the kids club that kept us busy. The only complaint: Valet took at least 30 minutes to get my car on a Saturday. I could have walked to the parking lot by then!

It was nice walking into a hotel room that looked exactly like the picture in the brochure and on the website. My reaction was WOW! I was on the fifth (non-smoking) floor facing the golf course and the incredible mountains. Coming from central Florida, where it's very flat, I loved the floor to ceiling windows in the room that really did the view justice. Morning room service was quick, the 24-hour Cafe Siena had good food and lots of variety, and it has a great Oyster Bar in the middle of everything. Only minor compliant was that housekeeping was slow in making up my room -- it was usually after 4 pm while I was trying to get ready for the evening. But the housekeepers were very nice and really hustled once they got into the room. Would definately stay here again.

What a treat it was to wake up to floor to ceiling views of the mountains and desert rather than the mobs of people on the strip. We have stayed at many of the strip resorts in the past, never again. The rooms were huge, clean and beautifully decorated. Casino was great, table minimum bets were reasonable and the people were very friendly. Loved the movie theater. Food is very reasonable but only mediocre at best. Shuttles are prompt and reliable. Will definatly stay there again!

My wife and I stayed for 6 nights over the 4th of July and also stayed over Memorial Day weekend. We love the rooms - very large, very clean and comfortable. Service was excellent. I like the casino, my wife likes the pool area and we both liked the restaurants we tried there. Ate at the cafe (good chinese food and good breakfast items) and at the Steak house (had an excellent and huge porterhouse steak.) We also liked the buffet for breakfast - very good selection for not much cash. (Didn't try other meals there.) Also, the Lon Bronson band is now playing in the showroom on Thursday nights starting at 11 PM (free show.) This band is excellent - be sure to go if you are there on a Thursday.

Easy to find, The Suncoast is right off the I-15. Even with construction traffic, we had no problems getting there. Better than any Hotel we've stayed at on The Strip. The Suncoast has a great atmosphere, beautifully appointed rooms, and HUGE bathrooms. With so much to do there we hardly left the hotel. When we did go to The Strip, it was only 10 minutes away. The buffet wasn't the best in town (we like the RIO'S), but the cafe was great and the price was fantastic. If you have to rent a car, or take a taxi, or even rely on the shuttle system, it's well worth it to stay here. If you love Vegas but hate the Hustle and bustle of The Strip, this is your best bet.

My husband missed a poker room, and the pool was very small, but otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay. I missed all the shops on the strip, but good food, clean rooms, pleasant staff. Great for families.

Forget all the expensive hotels on the strip. if you need good value for your money - stay at sun coast. You need to take cab to get to the strip or there is the convenient shuttle. Savings on the room rate will make up for the cab ride. The casino is not bad either.
