A 111-meter (365-ft) pool sculpted in a series of channel-linked open areas and featuring a beach entry, built-in lounges, and a garden island is situated parallel to the beach. Adjacent to one end are an eight-person spa tub and a 6-meter-diameter (20-foot) toddlers pool containing a playground.

Although all beaches in Mexico are public, the resort's 300-meter (328 ft) frontage on Tangolunda Bay is accessible to the public only from the ocean, leaving the beach for the exclusive use of resort guests. Thatched-roof palapas provide shade on the beach and on a sunbathing lawn bordering the pool. Other palapas shelter an open-air massage area and a crafts/hair-braiding area (surcharges).

There are no water sports available on the beach. But an independent operator at the resort arranges water sports rentals/services such as personal watercraft, scuba diving, and fishing. Other recreation in the area includes river rafting (in summer rainy season) and ATV tours.

The resort offers an artificial-grass tennis court (surcharge for night play). The 18-hole championship golf course serving the Tangolunda area lies 3 km (1.75 mi) from the resort.

First, What is with Mexico and lack of King Sized beds? Everything's a double. It's very hard to get the room you want WITH a King. Drinks were WAY overpriced. Don't have the romantic dinner out in the 2nd restaurant that's right on the water and expect to have really good food. The atmosphere rocked, but the food sucked. The "inside" restaurant food is much much better. All staff minus check-out staff were excellent (and minus one snotty cabana boy). Expect to be overcharged for something on checkout and have to spend 30 minutes getting it right. Unless you have money to burn, do NOT assume your bill (any bill, final or bar or restaurant) is correct. Give yourself at least an extra 30 minutes to checkout if you have someplace to be. I found checkout to be understaffed and undermotivated. And this was my 2nd trip to Zaashila. Identical experiences. We're there for the pool and private beach and private pool rooms...that's it.

This is a wonderful hotel at a marvellous beach, with big waves. Restaurants are very good and two special pool places invite you for breakfast overlooking the sea and at night with candle dinner. Kids can join a club during the day. For dancers there are no occasions at night which means a place to rest, recover and dream with your wife. During the day a coco loco or an other drink with enjoying the breeze makes your vacation unforgettable. No internet access will make you forget your office.

The hotel was really nice, the service was great, the people were very friendly and helpful, the view of the ocean from our room was incredible. Our only big complaint was that the bed and couches were very hard. Other than that it was great!

My family and I had wanted to take a trip to Mexico and happened upon this hotel rather accidently during my online research. I had never even heard of Hualtuco and needless to say I was somewhat nervous. Well we took the plunge and booked a room. My hopes of having a "do-nothing" vacation and just relaxing like in the Corona commercials was met on all fronts. The staff at the hotel was very friendly. The rooms were well maintained. We had a junior suite with a plunge pool and the view was spectacular - but to have that view we had a rather modest hike up a rather steep driveway and four flights of stairs. We had the highest and furthest room on the property. If you are not one for a hike after every meal - you might want to request something lower. Also being at the end of the earth meant that sometimes we would get turn service - sometimes not. Sometimes we would get a full complement of towels - sometimes not. We also tried to have an early breakfast delivered by placing our request on the doorknob the night before? No luck there. Some people would be peeved by these issues but we didn't complain or care - just part of the adventure. The pool and the grounds were impecible. The food at all of the restaurants was very fresh and good. If you are looking for a bargain - this is not probably the place to go. If you are looking for a relaxing experience in a beautiful setting - I'd pack my bags and go.

We loved the Camino Real Zaashila! The staff was so warm & accommodating. We had a room with its own private pool, right on the beach, and it was heavenly. This is my ideal version of a beach hotel room. We highly recommend it & we will go back!

The Zaashila is a beautiful hotel. The grounds are gorgeous, but have a lot of stairs the could be difficult for some to navigate. The hotel pool is lovely, and the private club pools are larger than I expected. The beach is also lovely, but the waves were very rough during my stay. The drink prices were a bit high for Mexico($3.50 for a beer, often lukewarm, $7 for mixed drinks), but the food was good and pretty reasonable for the quality, much better than what you find at an all-inclusive.

We came with two children in plain Semana Santa and although the hotel was very full we very absolutely happy with the service at the hotel and different restaurants. especially the buffet breakfast and the evening buffets with themes like "oaxacan night" were ablsolutely worth it. Two little downsides: everyone was very nice with the children but at the childrens club they did not speak a word of English - so just for Mexican children. Also little things like drinking water where charged at triple price, so make sure to go to la Crucesita once in a while and get your own stock of water and soft drinks. Everything else hotel, pool and beach was great
