While our daughter was an undergrad at Berkeley, we tried a number of nearby hotels while visiting her. The Emeryville Courtyard was our favorite, based on quality, amenities, location, and price. We were unable to find many places that came close in the vicinity of Berkeley. The hotel itself is the standard Marriott Courtyard quality. No surprises (good or bad). Just a reliable, moderately upscale place. What makes the place stand out are the views of San Francisco (ask for a room on the West side), the nearby shopping and dining choices. In case you haven't been there in the last few years, there is now a sizeable shopping center across the street with many fine choices for dining and shopping. Within a half-mile, there is lots of additional shopping. The neighborhood feels totally safe.

This hotel has a great location, walking distance to shops and restraunts. We checked into a room that hadn't even been cleaned and were then checked into another room. The rooms are small but the bed wasn't that hard. Don't have any products in the bathroom though..no shampoo! Make sure you ask for it or bring your own.

It was a pretty good and cheap hotel to stay in. It's directly across the street from an outdoor mall and restaurants.

We were happy with our stay here. We were within one block of excellent shopping, restaurants, a couple of miles from Berkely. And the people were truly excellent. The breakfast was very good also, but we were surprised it was not included in our room rate.
