    Features
What to expect: Conceived by a Bolivian tin magnate in the 1960s and opened in 1974, the resort was named after the phosphorescence of ocean creatures at night, which early sailors mistook as the twinkling of fairies. That magic is translated into the architecture here, where minarets and domes look over marbled arcades of cobblestone paths interspersed with piazzas, fountains, and tropical flowers. The international social set, as well as sail-fishing aficionados, are frequent visitors; most guests are couples, although singles and families are welcome.

Amenity highlights: The four-story resort offers two large swimming pools with waterfalls and tropical islands, eight lighted tennis courts, a 70-yacht private marina, a championship 18-hole golf course, and activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, pedal boats, waterskiing, and a volcano tour.

Insider tip: Manzanillo is a relatively undeveloped, working port where many shops and restaurants close for the afternoon siesta, and most are closed on Sundays, when the town residents head to the beach. Guests may wish to spend Sundays on the beach as well—a good place to soak up local atmosphere, and to get that dark volcanic sand between the toes.

Guests may book either an All-Inclusive plan or a Room-Only plan (European). The All-Inclusive plan includes meals and beverages, taxes, and gratuities, at the following restaurants, snack spots, and bars. The Room-Only (European) plan does NOT include meals, beverages, taxes, or gratuities (scroll up to the All-Inclusive Plan Details section for more information).

Legazpi - This fine-dining restaurant and lounge provides views of the resort grounds and palm trees through arched windows. Inside, paintings by the famous Spanish muralist Fernando Calderon, flowing draperies, white-linen service, and upholstered banquettes in red and white stripes, provide a classic backdrop for a restaurant popular for service and food alike. Offers a menu specializing in international and seafood choices. Reservations required.

Los Delfines - Fresh seafood lunches are served here beside the sea, under a traditional-style, thatched roof.

El Palmar - Informal, all-day dining is offered poolside.

El Oasis - Set in an Arabian-style tent right on the beach, this bar serves snacks and drinks; it is especially favored for its margaritas.

Coco Loco - The ultimate "wet bar," Coco Loco offers both poolside and swim-up service.

Lobby Piano Bar - Live music is offered nightly in this bar, which specializes in martinis.

The hotel, beach and pool were beautiful. However, this hotel was constantly out to get your money. They didn't even provide water in either the room or the restaurants. You had to buy it for $2 per 8 ounces. I paid $8 for a fruit plate and a little box of cereal. The prices given the quality were outrageous. You couldn't lay out at the beach or pool without constant pestering to order something.

Absolutely a beautiful setting and wonderful service staff. Set on a hill so one must be able to climb alot of stairs to get anywhere. Food was only fair and expensive which was disappointing since we were expecting great fish dishes. The Palmar had wonderful breakfasts. Overall service was excellent but pool food service was slooooowww. Margaritas were terrible. The rooms were very nice. A little worse for wear but still nice. Beds were typically very very hard as are most in Mexico. Front desk said that they did not receive our request for nonsmoking rooms from Expedia so we had to wait an extra two hours for our rooms to made up. The front desk was very professional and upgraded our room to junior suites without us even asking. Very nice touch. Really a beautiful hotel and setting but will look for a better value in Manzanillo or Barra De Navidad.

Old place needs some love. TV broke, AC loud, bed like a rock, service typical of Mexico (so understood that piece). Upside- beautiful place, nice pool (needs tile work badly) nice people.

Las Hadas is a wonderful hotel to stay in. Very relaxing. The place to stay in Manzanillo. Friendly people. Food is okay but it's pricey. It;s best to go to "The Malecon".

From the moment we checked in, we were catered to in every aspect. There are tons of things to do in the area which can all be coordinated through the activities center. We have continued to return here year after year and will be back in 2007. Sit back and enjoy!
