This hotel is clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Went as a group of 10 and all said they would go back, even the young children. The food is a bit boring because it is just about the same every night, but DELICIOUS! You can't expect accommodations of a 5 star hotel and pay for a 3 star. Would we go back, yes!.

Not what I expected. I was so thrilled about going on a lovely vacation to the Dominican republic. The pictures and the reviews had me convinced that this was the best choice for me. When I arrived in the dominican republic took a cab ride to the resort. the resort entrance looks like it was in a war zone. once we checked in we were given a room with no tv. I had to call the front desk several times to request one. when it arrived it did not work. room was overlooking unkept garden. requested a room change overlooking the pool. this was a much better location from the first however tv didn't work properly. also had a visit in the room by unexpected guest (Water bug and some kind of worm on the bed). had to call the front desk to remove the problems. room service comes in the morning to take your towels that were used the night before but don't give you fresh ones in excahnge so you have to wait a very long time to get fresh towels (several hours. my girlfriend and I got violently ill from the food. The liquor was no name brand (something called classic. not too much to do their. it is best to go out on a tour. that was the best part of the trip getting out and seeing the country. lots of motorcycles in this town. not much of a night life. town is underdeveloped. I won't be back here at all.

This hotel has the potential to be paradise. However, it is in horrible disrepair. The drinks were good and the bartenders friendly. The is pretty much one buffet style resturant for all meals. The food was good, though there wasn't much variety. Pizza bar, pasta station, and carving station standard at dinner. The area around the hotel is being built up and 5-10 years from now will have some amazing condos, but for now, it's pretty rural. Bring soap and shampoo for the shower, as it is not provided. The store in the lobby has fair prices, which is good b/c tap water is not potable. The beach is super powerful breeze and undertow wise. DO NOT buy anything from beach vendors - they will charge 3-30x what something will cost in downtown Cabarete. The beach is Cabarete is much calmer and great for windsufing. If shopping, check out a large white building across the street from where the shuttle drops you off and down about 1/4 mile. Upstairs you'll find a store with all the soverigners you'll ever need, all which marked and extreamly reasonable prices. The only ex. we did was "Paradise Island" and it was worth it 100% - but be prepared for a 3.5-4 hr ride back. All in all, things were okay, but there are definately better accomadations in this developing area.

I was disapointed in the hotel. The first 2 days and I was ready to get a refund and find another. The waves on the beach are so large that you are only premitted into the watch 1/2 the time. The beachs needed raked because of trash. TV only worked 1/2 the time. It took 2 hours to get towels to take a shower and 3 hours for shampoo. Each day the food had a national theme. It was all ok, but nothing stood out. A lot of the items were the same everyday even though the food was suppose to be from different countries each day. The head chief did make me special items a few times and was very friendly even though he spoke no English. The rooms were very clean but needed maintenance. The water in the bathroom sink was always on. I couldn't turn it off. 10 years ago, this place was probably wonderful. Now is has sadly started to become rundown. By American standards, it was maybe a 2 star at best.

I found this hotel below average. I am an experienced traveler and was very disappointed. We arranged for an airport pickup and the driver never showed up. After "resolving" the matter, they also forgot to pick us up from the hotel. The room furniture was old, broken or scratched. There was a leak in the bathroom ceiling and the room was flooded from rain. The food was just edible. The entertainment was lacking. Vendors (including those working at the hotel) were extremely pushy when trying to sell their products. As I mentioned I have traveled a lot and stayed in many countries, in all kinds of places. So has my best friend. We both live in USA, and Spanish is our first language. The one good thing I can say is that most of the staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. Locals (non-vendors) were also very friendly and welcoming. That, and our friendly nature are the only things that helped us have a good time.

I just returned from Paraiso Del Sol on the 4/21/06. I don't understand why there are so many bad reviews about this resort. The resort was clean and the people were extremely friendly. The food was good with a wide variety to choose from. I've become a fan of the local beer "El Presidenta". If this place fits your budget I would suggest giving it a try.

Night entertainment not too good. Beware of buying tours from people at the hotel. I got my tour from Mel Tours down the street from the hotel a lot cheaper.

This was the first vacation my husband and I have ever taken and it was wonderful. I am a very pesimistic person so I was very fearful of all of the reviews I had read. The hotel room was your average hotel room but the pool, staff, beach and bar were absoulutely wonderful. The food was a bit boring, we ate the same stuff everyday but it was not bad food just boring. The water was fine you just could not drink the water in your room. People did not bug us to buy things like some of the reviews said. Every once in a while but never too much. We went on the catamaran excursion and it was the best part of our trip. The only down fall to our trip was the phone calls. DO NOT use the phone in the hotel. Go down the street and use the phone in the little store for 9 pesos a minute. We spent $300.00(U.S) calling to the U.S before we knew how much it was. Other than that, our vacation could not have been better. The staff was great as well and the shows at night at KIKO'S Theatre were so funny. We loved everything. Speaking Spanish helps but most of the staff speaks some English. The weather was high 80's everyday and sunny. In the eight days that we were there, it rained for 30 minutes. Wonderful trip. I highly recommend it.

I am in my late 30's and I've never been to the Caribbean I wanted something inexpensive on the beach and with a pool. This place is GREAT. Lovely gardens and 3 pools . The ocean is warm, the waves perfect for jumping and the beach extremely clean and a 3 kilometer walk into the town of Cabarete (which most of the guests would do) we didn't just because the sun was too hot! The staff courteous and lots of fun. The food isn't five star cuisine, but you could always find something and we definately had no complaints. We too were amazed that there wasn't any Americans staying at the resort, Canadians, English, Germans, Dutch and Polish - we made many friends and are returning in November to meet up with them. The town of Cabarete is very small with most of the bar/restaurants backing onto the beach. Buy souvenirs at the hotel as they are a lot cheaper and you don't have to barter the prices - trust us we learned that lesson. If you are looking for something low key, inexpensive, a beach, pool and all inclusive, this is the place for you!
