Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino Amenities
Across the street from the resort's reception area, a casino offers slot machines, video poker, craps, roulette, blackjack, and poker. The casino is open around the clock for slot machines, and early afternoon to early morning for table games. (In addition, a room adjacent to the resort's lobby that's open from early afternoon to late night contains 52 slot machines.) A theater in the casino presents West Indian cultural/musical shows on certain nights. Accessible through an outside entrance and open on weekends and some weekdays, Q Club disco on the casino's mezzanine level features two bars, two dance floors, and an elevated VIP lounge.

The Maho Marketplace, which occupies the resort's street front, contains 40 shops, specialty stores, restaurants, and cafés, as well as an Internet center, a scuba-diving center, a beauty salon, a dance club, and a piano bar. Shops remain open until 11 PM.

Lined in wood and mirrors, a 418-square-meter (4,500-square-foot) health spa features five treatment rooms, each with a different decor, scent, and sound-and-light scheme. The spa offers massage, body wraps and scrubs, hydrotherapy, Vichy showers, facials, and nail care. It includes a complimentary unisex sauna and a complimentary mirror-lined fitness center containing cardio and weight machines as well as free weights.

Tuesday evenings feature a complimentary poolside rum punch party with live entertainment. Day and evening activities include crab races, karaoke, and pool aerobics. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, All Inclusive Plan guests receive complimentary bus transport to Orient Beach on the northeast coast of the island's French side for watersports, sunbathing, and swimming. If space is available, European Plan guests can pay for the bus service.

In addition to a 137-meter (150-yard), the resort's seafront extends another 91.5 meters (100 yards), with railing-lined terraces providing strolling space 7.6 meters (25 feet) above a rocky shoreline and a wood gazebo jutting over the water offering views of the bay and the open sea.

    Recreation
Washed by the Caribbean Sea, a 137-meter (150-yard) beach in front of the resort is part of a 366-meter (400-yard) crescent of sand fringing Maho Bay. (From time to time, airliners approaching the airport skim the bay and land on a runway near the resort's beach.) The resort also includes a sand sunning terrace with a bay view.

A free-form pool with swim-up bar on one end and swim-through waterfall on the other arcs for 67 meters (220 feet) through the resort's central garden. Adjacent is a plunge pool bordered by coralrock walls into which a five-step rock waterfall spills. Above the resort's rocky seafront, a gently inclined path leads up through a tropical garden to a 14-meter-long (45-foot-long) irregularly shaped pool featuring a 9-meter (30-foot) water slide. A sundeck surrounding the pool offers panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea.

Use of snorkeling gear is complimentary for All Inclusive Plan guests. European Plan guests may rent the gear. Use of four lighted clay tennis courts is complimentary for all guests, as is an introductory scuba-diving lesson in the pool. Motorized watersports are not available on Maho Bay. However, they're widely available on the island, as are scuba diving, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, kitesurfing, and other activities. Mullet Bay Golf Course, an 18-hole layout, lies just 804 meters (a half-mile) from the resort.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the resort; fees may apply.

Had a great time in hotel. Food was very good. Didn't take the all inclusive packaged and spent the same amount of money in food and drinks anyway, so next time we'll do the all inclusive. Watching planes landing from the beach was espectacular.

Family apent a week there in August 2006. Excellent staff at the hotel, very welcoming and always attentive. Food under the all-inclusive plan was varied and healthy. Premises well maintained, inside and out. Beach was clean, calm and relaxing. Beach is near airport, but the landing of planes is not really a distraction, but an attraction to some extent. Eat at the Point Restaurant and at Paris Bistro under all-inclusive plan. Maho Beach street has a few shops but it is worth venturing to Orient Beach (transportation provided by hotel)and to Philipsburg. Superb hotel all around. We will go back. No wonder it aptly calls itself the "Friendly Island".

We had a great stay at this hotel. But there were some surprises, the main pool was under repair for most of our stay and the internet connection would not work, depsite repeated service calls and earnest efforts. Staff was great. All inclusive was very cost effective. I'd go again. I thin I would take the newer, main building.

We stayed there for a week after a trip to Tampa,Fla.The pool was closed for most of the week.Nice, clean hotel.Friendly staff.Food was ok.We had the all-inclusive which is worth it.Stick to bottled beer cause the mixed drinks are way watered down.Every place we went in and out of the hotel, they nagged us about the timeshare.Go to neighboring beaches,Cupacouy,Mullet Bay,Orient Bay up on the other side of the island.

Hotel was awesome. I stay @ all-inclusives frequently and the food here was great, never ate anything distasteful. Plus, there is U.S. beer served (Bud Lite, Bud) and premium brands such as V.O., Absolute, Captain Morgan, etc. You don't find that very often @ an all-inclusive without paying alot extra. The only downfall was the HUGE pool w/swimup bar was closed while we visited but we did receive some compensation for that. It looked like alot of fun though, will try it out the next trip. The Casino was right across the street which you never wanted for a drink there either. The only 2 negative things I could even say is some of the restaurant staff take their time in waiting on you which gets a little annoying but once you strike a conversation with them, they lighten up. 2nd, the hotel rooms could use some renovation in the near future, but they were clean (tile floors). My husband used the fitness center which was above average, had more than just cardio. Our whole family went (8 adults), some drinkers, some not big drinkers, and we all felt the same when we left, LET'S GO BACK TO THAT PLACE!

Four girlfriends and I visited the resort July 5-10 and had a wonderful time. We went all-inclusive because it's easier with a group. The rooms were very clean and the food was good. The larger pool was under renovation, but the beach was beautiful, no need for the pool. Our only complaint was that the staff was not friendly at all, especially in the restaurants. Even though we went AI, we always tip for good service. Many servers in the restaurant acted as if bringing coffee was a chore. Those who treated us nicely received a tip. Those who didn't got nothing.

From the very beginning I was impressed with the hotel. I thought I was going to be placed in one of the rooms that faces the shopping/nightlife area, but instead was amzed when I found out I had a view of the ocean/beach and pool. The staff was helpful, kept things clean, and was eager to make sure I enjoyed myself. I hope to someday go back to spend a little more time in a truely wonderful place.

Nice central location close to many favorite spots, but overall not that impressive for the price. Given that most rent cars while on Saint Martin, I would recomend finding a more unique place. This hotel just felt like a typical large chain hotel - not what you want to remember from your vacation. Biggest disapointment - international calling fees when using hotel recomended number - be very carefull or you will loose a small fortune. The island is one of my favorites - just not this hotel.
